Hello. Hope everyone had a lovely xmas break. Has anyone else left it till the last minute like us?  I have found it impossible to find the time to clear a space and set aside a couple of days to film!  Also applying for Elmnurst and Tring Park as well as RBS, so quite a lot of filming to be done in the next couple of days!  Any tips greatly appreciated :)

Hi we are plodding through ours, we've submitted some and got some to do.. its the ever changing rules, lockdowns, periods of self isolation that haven't made it easy. Me and my husband have done our best. They all have different requirements and some the same too, so that hasn't helped but dance academy of mum and dad have done our best 🤣 we are hoping all schools will be aware parents aren't dance teachers lol which I'm sure they are. Good luck with your videos, just print out the list for eaxh school you are trying for and work your way through it and this is a great place to turn to for support xx

Also if you aren't iPhone (like us lol) there are great apps for putting clips together.. xx

Yes that’s what I thought but confused when ponklemum said solo for Elmhurst xx

Maybe ponklemum meant solo as a generic term 😊

I think we all deserve medals to be honest haha 😄  wonder when Tring get back after submitting. Trying to forget about it all lol xx

Solo? I thought it was improvisation for Elmhurst and a solo for Tring? 🤔

Tring write up said prepared solo, so pre planned i guess and Elmhurst said free movement, which I take to be non prepared improvisation type thing.

Another 2 hour zoom today and everything is filmed. It’s just needs putting together now. X

Fantastic 😊 i think our video clocked up about 8 hours (probably more than that haha) of filming, checking, editing it together then re checking haha then submitting. Things we do huh!? 🙈

  5. We are almost there, it was a bit stressful 😬 but hopefully will submit by Sunday. DC was also frozen because of the ventilation needed, we had to film in about 3 different places haha oh well, what can you do! 🙈 Good luck to everyone 💓

I was set to film all mine next week at a studio but now everything’s closed down here in Wales so feeling pretty stuck with what to do x

Tring are aware that some videos will be filmed at home. I have filmed DCs 90% home, 10% at dance school, they didn't mind. I think they understand that no all of us can film at dance school with teachers... we cant afford the 1-1 fees for it and we've been on and off self isolating and I'm sure they will understand all our circumstances. Any panel would take into account filiming at home, not sure what yr group you are going for but yr7 is potential and hopefully they can see what they need to see regardless of the setting. Film where you can and good luck with your application xx

Oh dear! I’m sure it’s just an oversight, soon as you ring they will send you the details. I’d been leaving the extra bits we needed to film for Elmhurst and feel like now there’s another video to do I really need to get a move on so decided we’re going to start filming tomorrow!

I've rung this morning and they aren't sure why we've not received anything... they said they contact the registrar to see why. We are feeling under it too. RBS is the only video in at the mo.. Tring 90% done and Elmhurst starting Saturday but life has become so busy running up to Christmas and time is running away and we do find there's a few stresses filming from home! 🤣 kids, dog, cat, door going etc lol... need a strong constitution for this years vocational run... and a sense of humour! 🤣

I wouldn't worry too much if you've been given a date for the audition previously..I think they gave everyone an audition who applied. I wonder if the email was hastily set up as there is no date on there for submission so wouldn't read into it too much x

Thankyou I will ring them in the morning. Yeah we had a date, time and itinerary but it would seem the people we know have had an email but not us..... its definitely quite a stressful audition process this year! 🤣

We got the email about Hammond today too. Another video! Good luck to everyone else who is trying to put all this stuff together!! I've emailed them to ask what the deadline is...

I've not had an email... lots have. Im concerned as to why. We were invited to preliminary and had an audition date early in January but not had anything about the change. I'm a bit concerned 😟  x

Mine came at 5.40....videos are slightly different variations to the others; but some differences e.g. shot from the side, Flexibility vids all shot at once...allegro etc which I don't think are in the others...some jazz....x

Thankyou. I will email them. Now I have to remember which hotel I booked so I can cancel!

I think allegro was in Tring in the enchainment but I could be wrong... im pretty new to this ballet stuff.

I'm a bit worried I've not received an email as DC was offered audition when I applied in October x

Yes it was by email. They haven’t given a deadline either, not that I’ve seen anyway xx

Ahh thankyou... wonder why I've not received one 🤔 we had a date and itinerary for Jan.

What are the video requirements? I guess I'd better email them. Was it this evening you got it? Xx

Aw I know my DD is gutted as we had just booked a hotel and planned a little trip there. What is frustrating is that all the schools have asked for slightly different variations of the dances...!

We've booked hotel as well but We've not heard anything about video audition.. was this by email? My child will be gutted too x

Crazylifecrazykids - Oh no, really didn’t mean to make you feel bad!  We give little Christmas presents and cards to our teachers around holiday season too.  This is not that.

To all others: Thank you for your feedback. My takeaways are that some favoritism probably happens everywhere AND talent will payout in the long run.  I think that’s what I needed to hear.  I may also need to grow some thicker skin in order to stay out of the Mama-drama.  Can be hard when you are a non-dancer and all this is quite foreign. ☺️

Hi you didn't ❤ I am similar to you and have Zippo dance experience.. I feel for my child sometimes! 🤣 I have also got to grow a thicker skin too... Its all new to me but its nice to know I'm not alone! Good luck with your dance journey and it's good to know we have each other on here xxx oh an I'm sure talent bubbles to the top xxx

Brilliant! Another Video nightmare though...my terrible IT skills will yet again be stretched to the limit! 🤣Interesting timing as well, coming the day after the audition experience day...I wonder if decisions were made by looking at that? Or maybe everyone who applies gets to submit a video. Already overthinking this!

From what I can understand, they are screening for preliminary audition. Originally we were going to find out after the closing date of the 11th.. very suprised to get email today but of course relieved DC offered preliminary but yes another video! 🙈 reckon the way our filming has gone we could start our own carry on movie sequels 😂😂 Good luck everyone x

We sent our video in during half term. Then they extended the closing date until January. However I’ve just checked DS video and it was viewed yesterday for just under 6 minutes??!???
could this be them sifting through them now as original closing date for fave to face auditions was around now? Or maybe they are just trying to get ahead of themselves ?

Hi how do you know if it was viewed? I really don't have a clue about this sort of thing 🤣🤣

    Very interesting topic...

You probably could get a bit bearing from their associates selections or maybe not at all as this is not only on potential as per se, but as well about facility, coordination, artistry and musicality.

Children are changing in time and small growth spurt or the first signs of puberty can completely mixed up everything items balance and flexibility.

The trouble this year is that RBS and Tring preliminaries are by video, which might be difficult to demonstrate personality or artistry.

It is a big guessing game....

    Good luck everyone. 🤞

We are in this video year and we have found it very stressful, not necessarily the dancing part but how to show DCs artistry... DC has artistry and moves well but its difficult to capture it. Our house isn't big enough for some of the elements, despite stripping out all the furniture! 🙈🤣 we aren't parents with a dance background and certainly not movie makers. We tries not to get stressed or overthink it but we have and do. Despite RBS vid now in and done.. I look at it and think things like nope that was wrong etc etc. Parents should just be the people who take a child to an audition, wish them luck, collect them, have a talk about it, celebrate their bravery etc, then wait for the results. This year it feels so much responsibility to get it right for our DC. Not started Tring yet 🙈🤪 but would like it done soon! Haha x

  17. Congratulations to the yesses, waiting lists and the no's are not yets...which is where we are. It's easy to overhink it all and after reading all the helpful comments here, it's a case of chalk it up to experience and forward with the next dance project... in our case audition video... resilience is a great skill to have and I'm learning! Good luck to everyone here who is on the vocational journey, especially in these different times. I try to keep telling myself what will be, will be and me trying to second guess isn't helping me, although I do still seem to do it! 🤔🤣.. One thing I do know, is this forum is amazing place for support 🥰 so much experience on here 😍
