It says it was viewed in the last 60 minutes

Oh ok! Ill check mine again. Is it youtube studio? I don't seem to get such accurate information on that. I can only see the date and amount of time, not the time of day and which part was viewed.

Taken a while to get accepted to write message but wanted to add Sorry for all the not yets and congrats to swl, we got a yes for group 3 yesterday, viewed several times and final view just before results. Good luck to group 4!

Congratulations! Nice to hear of a rare yes! Are you yr 4 or 5?

My DS is an August birthday.  More than once, I said desparaingly that I wished he was that few days younger.  His response was that it made him a fighter and that he wouldn't be the same person if he'd been born in September.  And you didn't necessarily know which genius was in the year below!

That's lovely, and very true! My DD has always loved being the youngest actually and she does have this sort if attitude too. It's only me that's moaning! 😂

Well going by that all those who’ve just had 1st video viewed are being discounted then 😞

Who knows? I remember reading on here someone who's videos were viewed several times all through and got a no. I'm sure in some cases they decide yes or no very quickly, and equally sometimes they will watch thoroughly and come to a yes or no, so I don't really think video views mean anything.

Will be interesting to compare on results day!

I thought that too. My DS’s Y5 pictures were a lot better than Y4, but surely the audition team will appreciate how much time has since passed. Maybe (he says, knowing he will never know the answer) clear improvement between photos from then and video from now is a good indication of progress....

Yes and I remember at the insight day they said if you don't get in try again next year and 'we will remember you', so I hope this is still the case if the audition at a different centre.

Absolutely! We had an ambulance pass, people stop outside for a  ridiculously loud chat (the pavement being really close to our living room window), kids shouting whilst walking past.... I didn’t realise how noisy our road was until we filmed that video!

That's all good if he remained focused! Could actually go in his favour.👍

At the time we were really happy with our pictures, compared to her audition pictures from last year ot was like looking at a different child! But looking at them now I can see her turnout has improved a lot since then after doing excersises set by her teacher.

I could do with some of your optimism ... no views here yet so am concerned there was a pre-selection from photos which, in our case, would be sad as my DD has changed so much since they were taken 9 months ago! 😬

I'm sure they wouldn't do that, they would at least have to watch a bit of the video. There must be loads to get through so they are probably doing the rest tomorrow.

The photos were what, 8 months ago! They have all changed a lot in that time.

  8. Yes very true, my friend brought her DS and DD here to do audition and during the inprov our cat walked right in front if her DD and was meowing really loudly and she just kept going and ignored the cat. I felt terrible but her Mum loved it because it showed how she carried on when something went wrong! 😻

Yes I’d hope the same. In theory they might see a child who performs perfectly adequately in part 1, plenty of room for improvement in part 2, and does incredible improv in part 3... there are any number of possibilities and combinations that might catch their eye or attention.... at least that

You described my DDs exact audition there! 😂

Maybe the first video is for screening purposes. If the candidate is suitable then they get sifted off to the next round to have all their videos viewed? Just my thoughts ...

I would really hope that for 50 quid the judges at least watch a bit if each video!

Did anyone in previous groups only get one video viewed before results?

Was the first video the longest one or was it the third?
mom trying to work out if it’s the first or third video that has been watched. It looks like it’s the longest one ( approx 13 minutes in length)

First was longest, about 13 minutes, then number two was 10 something and number three was 9 something.

Looks like they are just checking first links.

Same, looks like our first video has had a view this afternoon, but not the other 2. I’m at least slightly encouraged that the group 4 videos are being looked at before group 3 results have been announced. Although at the same time I’m sure we will have to wait the full 4 weeks to get the results.

I'm sure they can't be ruling everyone out after one short view. Maybe someone is just checking links ahead of the judges viewing so that they can email parents if there are any problems. Always optimistic! 😂

Yes there were auditions and then call backs, my DD was the youngest one in the production and only one of two in her school year ... almost all other children were already JAs. This was BRB affiliated rather than RB so not sure it could or would open any doors JA wise! It was a fabulous experience though!!

That's amazing! What an opportunity. I'm sure it will help, to have been seen and liked by the JA teacher!

I understand most festivals etc clash with associate classes too so difficult to do.

It was a performance with BRB in Feb of this year at the Hippodrome - it was a fantastic experience! The children rehearsed for 4 months ... my DD absolutely loved it!

That sounds amazing! How did she get into that? Was it an audition thing? DD said your DD had been telling her about competitions aswell. We've never done anything like that, she only goes to a small village ballet school.

Does your child cope with the travelling & then the class ok? I was worried Elmhurst would be a bit too far with all the travelling - we’re just over 2hrs away too.

Yes I take my DD and her friend (a boy) who also goes there and they have fun in the car, we always stop for a drink/loo half way and it is fine. You think she'd be tired afterwards too but she is always buzzing when she gets home!

Cool, we are Year 5 and also at Elmhurst but a little later in the morning!

Both Birmingham JA teachers are lovely - we did the insight day and my DD has Miss Murphy (from the audition video) for Swan Lake Dreams and she adored her!
    Good luck!!

    What is swan lake dreams?

  17. Actually I've just realised I remember that insight day very fondly as one if the last things I did with DD that seemed completely normal without worrying about covid. We went shopping at the bullring, had a drink in a packed bar in Chinatown, did the insight day lesson, then afterwards went for a pizza in a bustling restaurant. Seems like a lifetime ago! 😢

@Spamcat I've managed to transfer my DD audition to Birmingham, since starting at Elmhurst last month. Bath is no longer possible for us to get to. We'd previously been to Bath on an insight day and had a private lesson this summer with the Bath JA teacher. I know nothing about Birmingham JA! Do you? Do you know what time the classes are? I've heard they're afternoons in Royal Birmingham building? Thank you ☺

Oh that is good that they let you change. We had this problem last year when we auditioned for Bath but my DD only got into Elmhurst so it didn't matter in the end. I don't know much about Birmingham JA, apart from that a couple of DDs Elmhurst classmates also go to JA so the classes don't clash and are in the afternoon. We went to the insight day in the Birmingham Royal ballet building where the classes are held and met one if the teachers who is lovely. My DD loved it!

Which Elmhurst group is your DD in?
