Has anyone heard anything about the RBS’s reaction to the Red weather warning tomorrow? DH is concerned that we shouldn’t go! 🥴🥴

Hope you got there ok @Noideaaboutballet   and DD enjoyed it.

We were in Manchester yesterday and there were much fewer girls than I expected. DD enjoyed it. She said the panel was made up of Mark Annear, Chris Powney and another former AD so it was an amazing opportunity. Almost like finals but just not at WL.

Disappointingly they told the girls that they’d either hear today or Monday. Today hasn’t materialised and I think it’s a shame that they said that and are leaving them hanging over the weekend.

We’re not expecting a yes at all at this stage but it would be great to know either way.

  2. My DD is quite the opposite. Long legs, short torsos, long neck and small head. She’s not naturally flexible and has to work very hard on both this and her feet. Her turnout is ok.

She is in her 3rd year as a JA.

I agree musicality and showing a love of ballet is also good.

I’d say if she’s keen. Give it a go, the auditions themselves are lovely experiences and you won’t know unless you try.

    Good luck.

I could really do without an amber weather warning, two storms and multiple emails from LNER telling me there will be significant disruption over the next few days…

If we make it down south, I just hope, as above, that DD comes out happy and feeling like she’s done her best. What will be…

I predict results by end of next week 🤞🏻

The weather is an added stress isn’t it!

I’ve booked train tickets but am tempted to drive. X

Full schedule that was on DD invite to finals - she’s going for Yr10 entry is:

Yr 8&9 on 24/02, Yr 10&11 on 25/02 and 26/02 and, as you mention, Yr7 girls on 03/03 and 04/03.

    Yr7 boys on 07/03 and 08/03.

Oh fab thank you. They must definitely send results out quickly then if they are 3rd and 4th for Y7 girls .

Huge good luck to your DD.

  5. I just want to wish everyone the best of luck for the next few days and WL Yr7 girls semi finals.

I don’t know if anyone else feels the same as me and is feeling the pressure of getting there safely (given the forecast), praying DD enjoys herself and feels positive when she comes out and then eventual worry about the actual results!!

But hopefully they’ll all have an amazing time.

Now, does anyone want to hazard a guess as to how many they have taken to semis? I think 3 sessions per day, 3 days and 20-25 on each session so 180 to 225?

Next guess … if what they told me in an email at the beginning the process is true and finals are 3rd and 4th March, how long do you think the results will be? I think they’ll have to be pretty quick 😮

It's an odd one - I can't recall exactly what options I put on the application but the offer is:

Yes to a day place with waiting list for residential. We live 2.5 hours away so a day place is not an option. We were thinking of moving at one time so perhaps I ticked that box. Also offered an MDS audition on the 18th March and this is for assisted funding - residential.

The day place has thrown me a little 😃

I think that sounds like congratulations 😁. Someone will or probably know better later on but do they put everyone on a waiting list for residential until the outcome of the funding audition?

Can I just double check - is everyone completing the forms for Hammond just paying the £160? I just can't see that this is a reasonable request if it's not returned if you don't get a place. Or am I totally naive? Is this the going rate of the MDS audition everywhere?? Our dance teacher thinks not and thinks this seems a bit much as do I.

Hello. I have paid it. DD really loves the school and so it feels right that I do this. I had expected it though after reading past years info. So whilst I’m gutted that it’s £160 I won’t get back if she doesn’t get funding, at least I’ll know I’ve done my bit. However I do appreciate that not everyone will be able to lay this out.

As far as I’m aware Hammond are the only ones that ask for this before the audition but I could be wrong.

If I remember correctly, it was a ticket system for the scholarship audition (eventbright type thing???), so you would have chosen an age group for the ticket?

My understanding is that you needed to apply for summer school as well.

Do you mean that your DC is just doing the audition for experience, with no application for the summer school? Is that something people do? No criticism meant by that!

The youngest age group was years 7-8 but DD is year 6 so will be younger than some (possibly the majority) of the attendees.

No she isn’t just doing it for experience (we’ll I suppose she is sort of seeing as she’s younger than the audition group is aimed at so unlikely possibility of a scholarship) we are also applying for the summer school. I just wasn’t sure if the application was needed prior to the scholarship audition.
