Also... in the last visual, while Odette was up there on the rock, you could see the rope holding her safely up there...
I was hoping Odette goes bungee jumping after the curtain closes

Last night I didn't see it, I was so focused on those two and how achingly beautiful it was, I completely missed it.
Did you also miss the strange silhouette of Odette on top of the rock before she was supposed to be spot lit, she looked like she was having a conversation with someone on the ground behind the rock

A lovely evening and great to see Ashley Dean, Katharina Nikelski and Benjamin Ella back dancing 🙂

Could you see all the SCS places @PeterS ? If you can draw me a floor plan, and show that you counted every single space....then I might consider sending the tenner.
Actually, it doesn't really matter if these people were in a cheap seat or an expensive one. The point is they left after the first act. They seemed to be saying that the performance wasn't a good one, and they gave the impression they were cutting their losses and going home early.
I think these people must have been a bit mad, to be honest. And occupying places that dedicated Campbell fans would have killed for.
D6-7 looked empty for at least act 2 and 3 last night- 1

Manon's memories/flashbacks in Act 3 when she's feverish in the swamp- Lescaut always runs in looking bloodstained when chasing his Mistress. Then after that both Manon and Des Grieux are using the whole stage....so Lescaut could have dripped some blood that Des Grieux's sleeve brushes against?
But Lescaut is dressed just as he is in my pics when he appears in Act 3

They did ... (Although my main reason for going was to see James Hay back on stage, actually dancing)
As far as I know they only mention it on the PDFs of casting announcements that some people helpfully post here ahead of booking dates....not on the cast lists which most people would see

Can it be Lescaut's blood from the end of act 2? Because I noticed some blood on Bracewell too in act 3
I’ve asked Ryoichi and he’s said it was Lescaut’s blood- 4

Fab photos, @Rob S! Thank you! (Is that real blood or stage blood on Ryoichi Hirano?)
I really don’t know although someone has asked him via my pic on instagram so maybe he’ll address it- 1

That's a relief, we want the photos.
I’m sure I’d have made it for the final act but was so relieved to be there in the building to hear the five minute warning- 6

Well, tonight Mr Saunders’ GM pushed over a local chap as soon as he got out of his carriage…what a vile *******!!! 😆

Made it with five minutes to spare, as did Dawnstar. And I got to see Mariko Sasaki on Waterloo Bridge 🙂

You should be okay, Rob, especially if you can hop on a train from Waterloo East to Charing Cross. One is due in about 10 past, and into Charing Cross at something like quarter past, and I've made it - just - on that one both times I've tried.
Thank you, we have to navigate flooding at Richmond yet- 1

I’m in a desperate race too due to fallen tree/landslide between Reading and Paddington that has been affecting services most of the day but looked like it has cleared up until my train was terminated at Reading so I’m on a slow train to Waterloo should be there at 1905 so may make it for act 1

My big disappointment of the evening was Christopher Saunders as M. GM. He made no impression on me of any kind. This character needs to be very nasty in order for us to understand why Manon and Lescaut risk everything to escape from him. When it is Gary Avis, he makes it so clear that he believes he owns Manon, that he decides if anyone else can touch her, and when, and for how long. There is also that menacing aura about him, so that when he does what he does at the end of Act 2 it doesn’t surprise us. Instead, here we had an almost avuncular GM, smiling all the time and often looking more like a proud father than a nasty individual who has just bought a gorgeous young girl. Very bland and I’m afraid that aspect of the ballet just didn’t work for me.
Gary makes his mark within seconds of stepping out of his carriage, no other GM can compete really, and he's the best gaoler too. After Saunders' GM is injured in the sword fight and 'goes after' Lescaut...I was left wondering how he'd do as the gaoler....I came up with Mr Barrowclough from Porridge
