  1. Vladimir Shklyarov has recently announced on his Instagram page that he will dance Onegin on 18 April at the Munich Staatsballet. Well worth a trip to Munich, as the comments above confirm!
  2. Hoping that someone might have one seat available for the Thursday 5 April performance. Thank you.
  3. Update on casting for the Gala on 11 March: https://www.mariinsky.ru/en/playbill/playbill/2018/3/11/1_2000 (not such an educated guess after all!)
  4. The Petipa celebrations at the Mariinsky begin on 8 March 2018 with a performance of the Vikharev reconstruction of The Sleeping Beauty. On 11 March there is a Petipa Gala, perhaps rather perversely featuring only one actual piece of choreography by Petipa himself (Act 3 Sleeping Beauty - Vikharev); a new ballet by Konstantin Keikhel and Balanchine's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Unusual choices, you may think.. The gala will be broadcast live on Mezzo TV: http://www.mezzo.tv/nos-programmes/soiree_hommage_a_marius_petipa_theatre_mariinsky_11032018 No casting available as yet, but an educated guess for Act 3 SB might be Tereshkina/Shklyarov, who dance the first night on 8 March.
  5. Very disappointing news, of course. I wonder if this injury will hamper their preparations for Manon? (If a Plan B is needed I would very much welcome an invitation to Vladimir Shklyarov if Hallberg will not be recovered for Manon, though it would be a debut if it happened ..)
  6. In happier news, Marcelo Gomes has been announced in the role of Albrecht in the performance of Giselle at the Mariinsky on 18 March 2018, with Ekaterina Osmolkina in the title role. He also appears to have resumed posting on his Instagram and has some other work planned in the USA. Light at the end of the tunnel for him, no doubt..
  7. Members of the Mariinsky Ballet gave 2 performances of a new(ish) version of Petrushka, choreographed by Vladimir Varnava, in Munich at the weekend. The cast was led by Vladimir Shklyarov in the title role. A recording of the performance is now available for viewing on Medici.TV. The orchestra is the Munich Philharmonic, conducted by Gergiev. The performance was in the round, and I was fortunate enough to see it on the Saturday night. It is certainly interesting, and further evidence if nothing else of Shklyarov's dramatic gifts and his range.
  8. There was some discussion on Russian forums that Osipova had mentioned at a public talk 2 weeks ago when rehearsing Legend of Love that she had hurt her right leg. At the end of the performance some people also reported that she was limping slightly during the curtain calls. Hopefully she is recovering but maybe chose not to dance last night as a precaution...
  9. Hello - this is my debut on this interesting and lively forum! Thank you for accepting me as a member! I am sorry I missed this gala: what I am surprised to learn is that Vladimir Shklyarov made it from Munich where he danced at 11 am yesterday morning in Petrushka, to London in time to appear in the Legend of Love pa de deus (maybe originally to have been danced with Osipova?)! Impressive!
