  1. My DD loves hers but has leather and for some reason they developed white spots within a few weeks.  Reading reviews this is a common problem.  I like the idea that they can be washed so thanks for the tip @Bluebird22 we will look at canvas. If you do go for this @Newdancermum please let us know what your DD thinks about this option.  Looking at Capezio they are cheaper.

  2. As you say it has not been well advertised other than on Facebook.  Plenty of tickets still available to watch the finals but not too surprising as their web page doesn't even appear to mention that you can view and how to get tickets!

Does anyone know if the Summer school for Central School of ballet runs on the same weeks every year ?? I was interested in booking a family holiday/west end shows in London for Summer 20 and would like to tie in the Summer school course !

    many thanks

I have just been back through the diary and can at least say that this and last year are the same weeks.

Each school gets given a set amount of awards and I would imagine this is reviewed every so often (I know that DaDa funding is awarded every 3 years but actual amounts per school reviewed annually).  So Elmhurst could, space permitting admit more students than they have awards but possibly choose not to.

Over the last eight years the number of MDS available (music and dance) has hardly changed:  average 924 with minimal fluctuation, down to 919 and up to 933.  Over that time the Elmhurst share has been constant at 12%.

Did anybody pick up on how many are being awarded?

The number is always quite small relative to the other schools with MDS and varies from year to year.  They will have a number that they know they can offer but that will be supplemented in the coming weeks when they know which 5th formers with MDS are leaving and if pupils in lower years are leaving.

Bed places are also tight so lots of juggling to fit everyone in as there can be movement within the current student population from year to year.

Sorry this doesn't help much but hopefully puts it in some context.

Wheras I have heard that certain other schools may be interested in building links to visit the school to watch class and speak to children who have been assessed out to discuss their options.

The way I heard it was that the teachers approached the other vocation schools to try to help the pupils.  Some have already had separate auditions and /or gone straight to final auditions.

Dancing Kitty is that for RBS or Elmhurst? Xx

    Good luck everyone, xx

This was for RBS as far as I recall as that was what the thread was referring to at the time.  She has recently told me that she in aware that a number from Years 7, 8 and 9 have unfortunately been unsuccessful in this year's assessments.  Sad times for a number of families.  Hoping that places can be found at other schools for those who wish to continue with vocation training.
