  1. She is scheduled to dance the pas de deux in Golden Hour. I missed seeing her at Holland Park but a friend said to look out for her tomorrow.
  2. NYB have run a summer school at the same time as the performance company for a number of years so my reading is that this is the same course with a different name. Yes it may seem strange but it sounds like a good opportunity to get involved with the NYB Team.
  3. We were told that they rank everyone in finals and work their way down the list allocating based on the initial Finance information you submit until they allocate all the funds. The DaDA is great in supporting those on low income but the threshold cut-off at £30k is not as good as MDS. There are a select few who get offered an MDS for 6th Form - we personally only know of make offers.
  4. My daughter has relatively smaller feet for her height and is delighted as when on pointe she’s not too tall. We are what we are and have to make the best of it and work within and to our strengths. Enjoy having an average foot size and being able to get shoes that fit and above all enjoy dancing.
  5. We know a girl who is giving up her place after another offer so looks like some of those waitlisted will get good news.
  6. We know two girls who were in the same year at the same age - both with the same experience - the taller one, who was not the older of the two was in the Main Company and the other in Juniors. It is likely fit with the others in the group. The next round is casting so in some ways harder when it comes to acceptance of the dnd result as everyone through now is good enough for the show and it’s up to the choreographers who fits best.
  7. I am sure the year my DD did it there were around 75 in main company. There were six dances and the girls were cast in two and boys in at least three. I don’t have a feel for how many did first round but I thought it was more than the 200 this year. The finals were in groups based on who the choreographers wished to see. They were there for a few hours before there was a split and a final group asked to stay on. The final choice was made from this last group so staying to the end didn’t guarantee a place. They are good at getting the results out quickly which is good.
  8. Definitely - a bit wobbly but who wouldn’t be. She was slipping earlier - so maybe the stage or her shoes. Such a pity at her debut - she is a beautiful dancer.
  9. The classes go on age plus ability and may not directly correlate to a particular exam grade so I wouldn't get too focused on which group your DC is in. The training is going to be great regardless. 😊
  10. Term dates are on the web site.
  11. Thank you - I will take a look at the timing - might not work for my train home.
  12. Thanks both - I just found myself at a loose end in London this evening - pity it's not on.
  13. The ROH web site has gone down - I was looking for a SCS for this evening. The other week there were several empty SCS places so hoping someone has a last minute ticket. Unless someone tells me it's not on tonight. 😢
  14. We have not been in this position but know others who have as places do come up with some deciding to give up Associates and others head off to vocational school. Good luck with the audition. My personal advice would be not to war the JA uniform. The auditions team will know she was a JA and I am sure your DD will have a leotard she will feel more comfortable in, which is of greater importance what wearing the old JA one.
  15. I noticed recently that before tickets open to the general public you can still access the seating information on a chart that shows you what will be available when the booking opens. I so wish they would bring it back. I ended up being disappointed recently when I tried to judge where I wanted to sit and got it wrong. 😭
  16. Yes at one point during one of the lock downs her hair was purple. 😍
  17. We asked the other week and were told soon - sorry not much help but it did sound like it might be this week - I am sure the administrator only works a few day a week, including Friday, so maybe tomorrow.
  18. Our packages were from Australia - interesting we had the same experience.
  19. I have had a mixed experience with the same supplier a few months apart. One package incurred two sets of charges - one relating to duty and the other from the Post Office - and the other nothing. As far as I could make out there was no difference with the way it was sent. I try to avoid anything from overseas now for check everything for the origin. There are so many good UK based brand I prefer to support.
  20. Both Ballet Boost and YDA would be good for a 10 year old. If you want something central Ballet Boost maybe best as it takes place in Pineapple studios in Covent Garden. YDA are based in West London - just a short tube ride away with reasonable priced local accommodation.
  21. DD's friends did an exam at RAD HQ last year and non wore make-up and they are all 13/14. If, you say your daughter has nice skin and is comfortable without then no-make is needed. One less thing to stress about or detract from the dancing. Neat hair, clean tights and shoes and no visible knicker line are more important. And yes ask if any boys are being asked to wear make-up. 😉 Good luck to her - it is hard after such a long wait. We have just been through it too.
  22. JA auditions normally don’t take place until the end of May half term so offers were never until into June.
  23. Please change schools. She should not be giving up ballet until she decides herself(or you all as a family). Take your daughter out to buy some lovely new summer clothes. Find something to celebrate - anything. This type of negativity has me in tears. Take care! X
