  1. English Youth Ballet is holding an audition for male and female dancers (aged 8 – 18) from 4.30pm on Tuesday 18th November at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre. We are looking for a total of 100 young dancers from around the area to perform corps de ballet and soloist roles in our acclaimed production of Swan Lake that will be presented at the Waterside Theatre from 24 – 25th April 2015. Dancers of all experience levels are welcome to attend and we are especially keen to recruit some male dancers for the roles in the ballet. Auditions on Tuesday 18th November on stage at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, Exchange Street, HP20 1UG. 4.30pm (on the stage) - audition for younger dancers (aged 8 ­ 11). 6.45pm (on the stage) audition for older dancers (aged 12 ­ 18). N.B. Any 11yr old dancer who is studying above grade 5 level would be welcome to the senior audition and any 12yr old dancer studying below grade 5 level would be welcome to join the junior audition. To register for the audition dancers should complete the application form on page one of the attached document and return it to EYB together with the audition fee. It is also possible to attend and register on the day (it will be quicker if dancers bring their completed forms with them and arrive 30 minutes early). Each audition is a 1.5hrs ballet class, parents and teachers are invited to watch and the audition is an experience in itself. The audition fee is £15.00. The young dancers are coached by and then perform alongside international principal artists. EYB’s large cast ensures that each ballet is performed with the scale and grandeur which was originally intended. The company is one of the largest ballet companies in the UK and is made up of 8 professional principals and 100 local dancers (aged 8 – 18). EYB principal dancers are of the highest calibre and have joined EYB from companies such as English National Ballet, La Scala, Milan and the Boston Ballet. There is a £450 course fee for dancers who participate in the production. Dancers receive nearly 100 hours of tuition in total for the project. Scholarships and sibling discounts are available and the fees are payable in instalments. Click here to see a short clip of Swan Lake. Rehearsals for the ballet will take place on Sun 8th Feb (1 day), Sat 28th – Sun 29th March (2 days), Weds 8th – Sun 12th April (5 days), Fri 17th – Sun 19th April (3 days). ­ Rehearsals on school days will take place after school and Saturday rehearsals start at 2pm to minimise disruption to normal dance classes.

Please find an audition registration pack if you are interested in the audition. Auditions on Tuesday 24th June in the Studio at The Hawth Theatre, Hawth Ave, Crawley, West Sussex RH10 6YZ. 4.30pm - audition for younger dancers (aged 8 ­ 11). 6.45pm - audition for older dancers (aged 12 ­ 18). Each audition is a 1.5hrs ballet class on the stage and is an experience in itself. There is a £12.50 audition fee. It is possible to register on the audition day (but please arrive approximately 30 minutes early if possible).
