  1. Thank you the quays, just trying to get some idea of how much I need to find for uniform too. (panicking!!!!)
  2. This maybe a bit of a silly question, but how many pairs of pointe shoes would my DD need to take to her vocational school? Assuming that she will be wearing them more than she does now, so therefore wear them out faster.
  3. Thank you everyone for that information! She was curious as what to expect in September, now very excited!!
  4. My daughter would also be interested to know what a typical day would be like at a vocational school particulary Ballet West.

  6. I've never darned pointe shoes either, I wouldn't know where to start, DD now 16, wears shoes made with suede tips. Before she grew out of them so fast it wasn't worth it. I think that it would be a very good idea for a ballet class to be dedicated to teaching them to sew their own ribbons, elastics and tips, especially when they go on pointe and start vocational schools.
  7. It's also worth mentioning that when they are at secondary level there is an Institut del teatro that follows secondary education (Spanish) and also the professional ballet course that is followed here in Spain. It is state funded with grants available depending on financial circumstances. www.institutdelteatro.org
  8. Hi there are several good schools in Barcelona: www.joveballetdecatalunya.es www.centrodedanzaangelcorella.es www.escoladansamado.com Students from some of thes schools have participated in the YAGP Thes are a good starting point, I hope this helps!
  9. My DD is tired today, she had 4 auditions in 1 week and the flight home last night and now into a full time school schedule. It will be sad when she flies the nest, wherever she decidse to go!
  10. Hi, This is a last one from me that I know of in Valencia with Elena Glurdjidze from ENB. http://www.wsballetvalencia.com/ The site is avaliable in English and there are grants available.
  11. Thank you Dramascientist and Regattah, we will look into our options, my husband (and dd's dad) only returned to the Uk in November and we are waiting for the school year to finish before we all return. We are in Spain by the way. I read on one of the Scottish finance websites that the EU rules apply if the parents aren't English, but maybe I misunderstood that.
  12. Thanks for that. I will get my husband ( he is living in England now) to phone one of the help lines for clarification, we have always held onto our English permanent address and the courses she has been offered are in HND status schools.
  13. New to all this and feel a bit out of the loop. We have been living outside of the Uk for the last 6 years and my DD has been accepted in 2 schools, not sure yet which one is the favourite. My question is where do i find out the information for student finance and does anyne know if she would be considered a British student or an EU student. Due to circumstances the whole family is planning to return to the UK this summer.
  14. When my daughter returns from the Uk, I will get the details of the school in Valencia, if there is accommodation and costs etc..... there is also one in Sienna called the Ateneo della danza run by Marcos Batti and following the American Ballet school.
  15. Try: Centro de Danza Ángel Corella in Barcelona or http://alcorcon.escuelavictorullate.com/novedades/cursos-de-verano-2014 this one is just outside Madrid and run by Victor Ullate school information is in English as well. I think that they are still taking places as they have only just advertised in the ballet schools here in Spain. There is another one here in Valencia with dancers from the ENB but i can't remember the name of it.
