Hi Glowlight. That is DEFINATELY the criteria. IF two candidates needed to be split because they were equally talented then financial statements can be requested from parents.

MDS and DADA awards are allocated taking two things into consideration. Quote - "talent and need". In other words personal finances do play a part. If two candidates are equally talented then finances will then be taken into account.

Hi afab Yes 6th is the term used for parallel first position (as if standing). In France you also have a 7th which is basically 4th position en pointe. Thank you for taking the time to write your post. It is very interesting.

When I was training we didn't have a choice! We would never have thrown a pair of pointe shoes out, always went on to use them as soft blocks. I used to put mine in the door or smash them up with a large hammer. If you put the pointe shoe in an old sock you won't mark the satin. Enjoy

I think I am right in saying that NYCB do not ever hold company auditions. Company members are either selected from SAB or invited from other companies join NYCB.
