I'm looking for one ticket for a friend for this performance - she'll consider anything that's not too expensive!
Thanks

Have to say though, that I agree with 'Indigo' above with some of her comments. The general sleaziness of the whole scenario - from the rich taking their delights at the cost of the poor, ladies of the night selling their souls for a few coppers, the goings on in the goal once they arrive at their deportation 'home', creeps me out a bit. And that's before coming on to the pdt with M GM, Manon, and her brother or the 'passing around' of Manon as an objectified tropy
QuoteSorry - this is the first time I've tried to quote, and I seem to have messed it up! But I just wanted to say that I agree with Indigo and DaveM - some parts were hard to watch, and the middle act did seem to go on a bit with the harlots. I didn't get the sense that Manon herself was manipulative at all last night - she was just being used. However, the quality of the dancing, particularly Alexander Campbell, was stunning. Maybe it's time for a bit of a re-think for the ballet, both the staging and how it is presented - though obviously we can't judge it from the moral perspective of today. I also agree with DaveM that being thrown around in a swamp is probably not the best approach if you're on your last legs!

Fingers crossed for that, Ruth ........

I agree, Sim - and that's in the play. Many of the reservations above are Shakespeare's fault!

So no Onegin. Oh well ...
And I was hoping for Theme and Variations, but maybe there's a reason they don't/can't do it ...??

Due to a sudden heavy cold, I'm reluctantly selling my SCS for tomorrow March 13th. It's D11 £10. Pm me if you're interested - it's an ticket, so I can email it. I'll return it to the ROH tomorrow if no-one wants it.
Thanks

Yes, could be overactive imagination. I like the Russian version where there are only twinkling lights that scare him away - that seems a better way of ‘anticipating’ their arrival.
Sorry - a bit away from the flowers ....which is such an interesting topic

I’ve often wondered how there can be Wilis scaring Hilarion at the grave at the start of the act when they haven’t been raised by Myrtha yet ......

This is a very early request for two SCS tickets (ideally together) for any of the Morera performances of the RB Bernstein mixed bill.
March 15, 23, 27 or April 6th.
I realise this is very early, but am hopeful of getting two tickets together this way.
Many thanks

And some performances just needed to be recorded for posterity and weren't, which I think is a crime against ballet. I am thinking particularly of Alina/Johan, and any performance of the piece that had Jason Reilly as Onegin. Such a great shame to deprive future generations of these superlative interpretations, that still give me goosebumps whenever I remember them.
Jason Reilly IS Onegin for me. I remember the performance in London with Alina, and it was electric.

ROH Sitting in the front row amphi
in Performances seen & general discussions
Posted
Sorry - I may be posting this in the wrong place, but I just want to know what it's like sitting in the front row of the Amphi - I've just snapped a SL ticket up for a friend, (fairly central) but am now not sure whether she'll see over the tier as she's short.
Any advice, please?
Thanks
