Hi windover60 Is it usual for a lot of the children at WL to do the Summer School? I know quite a few from Elmhurst like to do their own summer school as it is an opportunity to be taught by the BRB.

Well done to your dd Dragonlady fingers crossed she gets a place. As we know after all the funding auditions there will be lots of movement. It must be encouraging to know that Central acknowledge the talent your dd shows for a classical career. Well done to all who gained a place and fingers crossed for those still waiting!

Perhaps I should wear a carnation or carry a rolled up copy of the Dancing Times Seriously llook out for a dark haired mum and a blonde grandma ,dd blonde very slim and wearing a light blue leotard. Would be nice to put some faces to names.

My dd is younger than your dd Lildancer96 she has to be there for 1pm.

I would say at least 2 leotards and tights I really couldn't say ,but if they have at least 3 then one pair in use , one in the wash and a spare pair and 2 pairs of jazz/ tap tights.the theatre shop visit school twice a week so those on MDS just sign for what they need and those not on MDS they send the bill to your address. The house staff wash their dance kit every day so they could effectively managed with only one leotard. In July I will probably have a few items inc tap shoes that would be ok for spares . My dd tells me she is already in contact with one little dancer who will be joining her if anyone else's dc's would like to chat about life at The Hammond just pm me and I will give my dd the details ..... Hi tutucute22 my younger DD will be in year 9 from September if she would like to contact her via facebook she can talk to her and some of her friends.......one of the new boys has already been introduced to them . PM me if she would like that,and any other questions you may have relevant to yr9, from previous threads I think you are too far from us to meet before hand.

The dance track suit has to be ordered from the school uniform shop in Hoole ..... This has to be paid for and claimed back from school .

Hi all the leotard is specially made for the Hammond girls I'm at work at the moment and will look at the label to see if I can find any more info for you . I remember with one leotard I rang directly to the manufacturers and managed to get it a little cheaper ...... I recommend for any girls older than yr7 getting it fully lined as this is optional. Those people on MDS when you visit the Theatre shop they have a list of students names. I recommend ordering early although they are very helpful they are a tad slow.

How frustrating for you Dragonlady!.....strange that none of your DD's friends have heard anything either. Fingers tightly crossed for your lovely DD as I know what this means to her x

Hey Dancingfeet welcome from me too ... I will be following your dd's progress with interest

I agree this year is a nightmare but as you point out your daughter has been awarded dada funding before and after financial info given out ..... We were at Laines the other day ( I know not ballet ) and Betty Laine said she had the power to award scholarships if you were over the threshold for financial help obviously from Laine funds. Take no notice the colleges are not going to take people because they are poor !! If they were going to take anyone in this funding nightmare it would be the people nearer the middle who have to contribute quite a lot and find their own maintenance and I don't believe they will do this either !!

Gosh Discouraged I could give you enough to fill a book on my own .... Glad you had an enjoyable day just heard from a friend it will take 3 weeks for you to get your letters what a long time to wai Thanks for the good luck messages hopefully all our DC's will get something they want ..

Very best of luck to your DD Discouraged and all the DC's we know auditioning today at Central!!! We are off to London today as well ,DD has auditions for Laine and Bird, hoping the snow doesn't cause any hold ups.

Re DaDa: It was my understanding that it was indeed the previous year you are assessed on and doesn't change for the whole three years unless something major happens . The maintenance element is assessed every year. Someone please correct me if this is wrong.

It seems like everyone is talking about different stages of training and yes we are getting off topic, as with everything there are pros and cons to vocational training. It is all well and good if you have an excellent training facility like YDA on your doorstep if younger DD had not gone to VS we would have had a 4hr round trip 3 times a week plus more days as she got older in order to access to training needed . Complete nightmare when they have homework and sleep to pack into their day and myself a business to run. Pre-vocational many people will be packing in lots of hours with normal dance classes,associate programmes,EYb,NYB etc, I hadn't realised how much everyone was actually doing .......at lower school my dd's are doing around 15hrs dance plus 3 more hours when you reach adv 1 and 4hrs vocal a week but the academics although excellent are limited. Good Luck to all the students awaiting results and attending Central this weekend!
