  1. Everyone's so different, aren't they? I suppose that's why it is next to impossible to make assumptions based on anything!!
  2. I'm sure this has been talked about in another thread - search for high arches or something like that..
  3. Oh no, don't say that!!!!! She's already hurt herself falling backwards over the laundry basket yesterday!
  4. Yes, it's all to do with hormones, particularly oestrogen, so he says. He doesn't know about ballet, but he's spent his career analysing the results of x-rays and CT/MRI scans etc. He is the director of a medical imaging clinic and knows his stuff. On average, girls usually stop growing about two years after their periods start in earnest.
  5. Star - we bought about the same number as you - at the time dd was only interested in the make-up and jewellery gifts that came with them! I emailed them a while ago to ask if they were going to re-issue the series and they said they had no plans to.
  6. Dd's exam at her dance school tomorrow - I think I'll slip her passport in my bag just in case...
  7. My doctor relative told me that a good indication is when a girl starts her periods
  8. I like watering my houseplants, and I talk to them while I do it!
  9. They do occasionally crop up on eBay, which is where we got ours from a couple of years ago. (had a quick look for you this morning, but there aren't any at the moment though!)
  10. Hi, please does anyone have a black character skirt 25/26" waist, and 27/28" long? It doesn't matter what colour ribbons, and dd would be happy with something old / well-used, as it will just be used for summer school. many thanks
  11. Dd finally chose Freed softblocks, but we don't know whether to bash them, steam them with the kettle or just wear them in. Does anyone have any hints for the best way to soften Freeds demi-pointes please?
  12. And one who can wrap your husband round her little finger....
  13. Not the most well-thumbed, but one of my most cherished is a prayer book given to my mother when she wasy dying. It is signed 'Robert St Albans' He later became Archbishop of Canterbury.
  14. I like polishing silver too - I just wish I had some to polish!
  15. Perhaps it's so they don't frighten the horses!
  16. Do you think it will be released on DVD in the USA?
  17. Echoing what Spanner says, I think the difference between a girl of 10 and one of 12/13 is HUGE You wake up one morning to discover you are sharing the house with another woman!
  18. My dd would have taken her exam at HQ, but since her teacher is having a big exam session anyway it makes sense this time for her to take it locally. Next time it will be in London I'm sure. Dd has already been there for workshops; I sent her on purpose so she would be familiar with the building!
  19. I remember dd's teacher saying (among many other things) that it wasn't the girl's age on the calendar that mattered, it was her physical development and maturity.
  20. DD is taking her exam at her own dance school.
  21. Do you have to have photo id if you are taking inter found or inter at your own dance school premises, or just if you go elsewhere? It's just that it hasn't been mentioned by dd's teacher at all, and dd's exam is next week.
  22. All I remember from ballet lessons is wondering why everyone else could turn out and do plies and I couldn't!
  23. We were in the Freed shop at lunchtime today - no need to book - there were 4 assistants and us. DD was drooling over the Union Jack pointe shoes in the window!
  24. How about asking her teacher if there are some strengthening exercises she could be doing over the summer hols? I tend to agree with Spanner that there is no rush, and it is probably best to check with the ja teacher in the autumn.
