Dancermum Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 DD doing the inter foundation exam intensive next week at the RAD (26 August start) and wondered if anyone else was attending... Also got her exam date as Monday 1 sept... Don't know anyone else there so looking for some friendly faces for her and possible someone to have coffee with/kill time for me!!
Guest Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I'm doing the advanced 1 course, I don't know if they're at the same time but I did the if course two summers ago and it really helped
Pups_mum Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 My DD is also doing the Advanced 1 course. IF and Intermediate courses are usually in the morning, whilst the advanced courses are in the afternoon. Don't worry about your DD not knowing anyone Dancermum. My DD has done these courses a couple of times before and has found everyone friendly, plus there isn't actually a lot of time for socialising anyway, just one short break. I'm sure she'll be fine. My DD would definitely agree with littleballerina - she has also found the courses extremely valuable. 1
Kat09 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 My daughter is also doing the ADV1 course - I'll be drinking coffee if anyone wants to meet up
Dancermum Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Yes IF is in the morning 11-1.45 so won't be there at same time as any of you... Glad to hear good things though, got a little worried when her teacher said it would be lots of overseas students who might have learnt the syllabus slightly differently, didn't want DD to get confused the week before her exam!

I have found that in the past there are lots of people from different schools doing things differently, nothing drastic just arms, heads or timing so tell your dd to just stick to what she's been taught by her teacher and only change something if the teacher of the course advises to and she'll be fine

Legseleven Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 DD's vocational examiner has often said that there are distinct differences in style between candidates from different countries, despite the universal RAD syllabi. She confirms that part of the requirement for vocational exam candidates is the ability to dance as your teacher has taught you, whether or not your fellow exam candidates from other dance schools are doing what you are doing - the maturity to ignore rather than feel worried by someone next to you doing something that may seem quite different is definitely expected of a vocational level dancer ;-) 2
Legseleven Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Sorry, I meant DD's vocational examiner teacher!
