2dancersmum
I hadn't heard of it - no - so I googled. Hope you enjoy your time there and that your DD's group dances beautifully.
Picturesinthefirelight
I've heard of it. We took part in one of the non competitive affiliated festivals a few years ago & a young girl I know got through to the finals with her dance group which that year were held in Birmingham.
Katymac
Phew at least it's 'real' not like that 'Teen Queen' thing we did  I'm sure will will be very impressed with the other groups - I do like this sort of thing & then it's 'Can you Dance' next week - I'll be exhausted (never mind DD who actually dances!)
Picturesinthefirelight
Is it one of the regional or national events? We chose not to compete as the finals are quite expensive to attend do it tended to me mainly community/school type groups who were able to fundraiser/get sponsorship The group I know who got to the national finals were a county run group who took dancers from various schools in the county. They got a whole day if workshops etc as well as the final performance. Our local theatre education departments were also heavily involved.
Katymac
It's at Trinity Laban (I think) in Greenwich & 8 groups have 'qualified' - 2 groups go to Nottingham. But that is all I know; at the final rehearsal last night we had local dignatories & a reporter & the discussion was that it was amazing that such a new group qualified. But tbh I have googled and I can't find a list of qualifying groups. DD's group is small & quite specialised but don't know how they fit against the competition
Chassé
My youth group went to the south west regional in Taunton a few weeks ago, it was a really good day and everyone enjoyed it. We did a couple of workshops, a flash mob and we got to watch the half of the perfomance we weren't in, which was nice. Good luck to your DD and her group Katymac, and I hope she has a good day!
Katymac
Thanks everyone; I should maybe take more interest in things while they are in the planning stages rather than the day before; but it gets so complicated Hopefully the girls will have fun! Katymac
Well the children all danced beautifully (obviously dds group was the best;) ) & were all very good. Contemporary isn't really my thing but there were some lovely dancers and a great Street group. The youngest group was amazing as were the community groups. A good night was had by all
