Sim
I love all of the Open Barre podcasts, but I thought this one would be of particular interest to ballet students and dancers...and their parents! Talking to Julia Dixon and Brandon Lawrence is Sophie Simpson of Freed, who discusses all things pointe shoe: how they are made, how they are fitted, how to look after them, how long they last, what happens to them after they are used, etc. etc. A really fascinating episode. Mens' shoes are also discussed! I hope you enjoy it and find it interesting.
Rob S
It was a great episode, extra long and very appropriate listening for me today during an 18 mile walk in brand new walking boots! I think the only thing I was left wondering is why personalised pointe shoes don't come with ribbons attached, in the place specified by the dancer. Would they simply get in the way of their added breaking in ritual and have to be reattached anyway?
Sim
Good question Rob. I will try to find out for you…or does anyone here know the answer?
