amum/Cathy
Looking forward to Aladdin at the Lowry. Am I right in thinking it was done for Japan and hasn't been performed over here yet? BTW Janet your thread title has 2012, not 2013 in it so slightly confusing
Jan McNulty
Thanks for pointing out the typo - I've editd the title to correct. Yes, David Bintley created this ballet for New National Ballet Theatre of Japan, I think in 2009. He used the score composed by Carl Davis for Aladdin by Robert Cohan for Scottish Ballet some years earlier.
toursenlair
I saw a video of Aladdin in the archives of the New National Theatre of Japan last summer and really enjoyed it, especially the "Aladdin's Cave" divertissements.
Jan McNulty
We've seen 2 duets at Symphony Hall and they were pretty wonderful! Will you be seeing it somewhere Katherine?
toursenlair
We've seen 2 duets at Symphony Hall and they were pretty wonderful! Will you be seeing it somewhere Katherine? I wish!!! but unfortunately haven't been able to persuade anyone to go to England with me to see it. I thought it would make a nice February break with RB's all Ashton and Apollo/Wheeldon/Ratmansky programs in February.
