Katymac
Should DD have had new ponte shoes fitted while she has a swollen ankle from a torn Achilles? I know I'm being daft - but I just don't know if it's OK or not (I wouldn't buy new shoes while I had a swollen ankle) Never mind the stress of a bill for pointe (which I wasn't expecting) tap & latin shoes!! Anna C
I would hope that pointework is out of bounds until the achilles recovers? In any case, personally I would wait until the ankle is back to normal before having a fitting.
Circe
I would n't take my dd for fitting whilst unable to do pointe due to injury...incidently my dd also off for ankle/ achilles injury and the only good thing about it is not having to keep buying pointe shoes!
Katymac
No dancing at all atm so I'm not worried about her doing pointe I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it a little odd I've told her not to sew/wear them until her teacher here has seen them - at least she knows what DD's foot looks like when it's uninjured (& yes I'm sure the schools teachers/shops fitters know what they are doing but she's my baby & I worry as she hasn't done a lot of pointe yet)
Anna C
Oh, she's HAD a fitting with a swollen ankle? I thought you were asking whether she should have one. I agree, don't let her sew them or wear them until the swelling has gone down and teacher has seen them - in case they need to be returned.
Picturesinthefirelight
Was it a case of the college fitter coming in/bring available on a certain date. Unfortunatly I think that's sometimes a problem with fittings done at school/college & they can be so rushed too. Hope her ankle heals soon.
