  1. I'm sure your dd will be fine they must think she has potential etc otherwise they wouldnt have accepted her! Hope you sort somewhere out to stay for the workshop, there is a premier inn in drury lane which is v.near covent garden.
  2. Yes dd goes to covent garden & will be doing the 2 day workshop so might see you there, i wonder what the price will be? They dont take any notice of what grade the girls are as the classes are taken quite slowly at first & taken almost back to basics! Years 4 & 5 are taken together & year 6 seperately, so girls that start as year 4's then have to repeat it all again in year 5! My dd didnt do any barre work in yr 5 but they spent a lot of time on strengthening exercises, musicality, & getting the basics correct.hope this helps!
  3. Thats why i've bought the bodystocking as the leotard is getting a bit tight now! And size 2 too baggy.
  4. My dd is keen to audition for w/l & poss elmhurst, does anyone know how hard the academic tests are for these schools if she is lucky enough to get final auditions, only asking as dd finds maths hard, but fine at other subjects, just wondering if they choose gifted academic children as well as dance!
  5. Thats how the size 2 is on my dd, baggy on shoulders & hips, she'll have to wear the size 1 in sept, sure the size 2 will fit after xmas! Good luck to yr dd she will enjoy ja classes.
  6. My dd has been wearing the size 1 throughout yr 5, why dont you send for the size 1 & compare? Which ja centre is yr dd attending?
  7. I bought the size 2, but is a little big on dd, she is also 10 but small for her age.will keep it though.
  8. Yes lots of interesting replys thankyou to everyone!
  9. Have received the intermezzo body stocking & it fits v.well under the leotard.
  10. Hi primrose, yes it is gentle barre exercises in the inter foundation & only 10 mins at the end of the class, dd has been doing all the exercises on demi-pointe.
  11. The intermezzo one sounds great will have a look for that.just wish the ja leotards had a lining to them! Thanks.
  12. Dd although 11 in sept is quite small her feet are only just a size 1. Teacher not putting pressure on dd to start pointe, has left it with me to think about, after reading the replies i'll let dd wait until the year 7 auditions are finished.
  13. Dd white ja leotard can be a bit see through as it doesnt have any lining, does anyone know who stocks flesh coloured underwear for children?
  14. Dd wants to audition for vocational & m/a so perhaps she could wait until auditions are over?
  15. My dd is 11 in a couple of months time, she has been doing inter found ballet for over a year now, and her teacher mentioned about her starting pointe work from sept. I dont know what to think about this, is she too young yet? She is a rbs ja so dont want her feet sore for ja classes! Dd is quite small for her age but also strong & flexible, should i get a second opinion from her ja teacher or let her try out pointe work as it is only 10 mins at the end of the class.help!
  16. Know how you are feeling! I stressed about making the skirt last year for my dd, there was no way i could make it.you will probably find it easier to contact a local dance shop or somewhere that makes festival costumes etc.i contacted a local dressmaker last year who quoted me 50 pounds to make it! Luckily found a dance shop who made it for 10 pounds.dont think you'll have much luck in buying a second hand one as people probably hang on to them as a memory of dd's ja days! Good luck
  17. Hi my daughter is starting yr 6 sept so will attend the 2 day workshop, not sure about the cost though will get further info in sept i expect, i imagine it would still be beneficial if only wanting to audition for mid associate.
  18. The workshop in half term is just for year 6 ( someone on this forum said its an audition preperation workshop)
  19. Does anyone know if vocational schools such as elmhurst, rbs actually look at the ballet exam certificates that children have passed if they are fortunate enough to get through to final audition stage, i know some say they are not concerned about exams passed, but i am just curious!
  20. I would say it doesnt matter if they are slightly longer, dd ja teacher paid more attention to the fullness (3 lengths sewn into the waistband) good luck!
  21. I had dd ja skirt made by a local dance shop that also made costumes for shows/festivals cost me about 10 pounds! Bargain well worth paying for someone to make it. Dd ja teacher checked them all to make sure the 3 lengths were there! Quite hard to do as dd waist v.small. agree with others there should be some made up at ja centres for parents to purchase. Just praying dd skirt is still correct fit for year 6!
  22. We are still waiting as well. Hopefully it will arrive this week
