  1. Hi. Tippy toes, my dd will be at yr 7 finals too, glad there isnt an interview as that is what she was most worried about! Good luck
  2. I agree it will be only the fortunate v.rich parents who will be able to send their child to vocational schools, and i am sure there are still many parents in the ballet world that can afford the fees!
  3. Hi balletmum, she is auditioning for yr 7 london
  4. Good to hear your dd is loving elmhurst oldermum, my dd is looking forward to the final audition, can you tell me a bit about the interview & academic tests are they hard?
  5. Well done to your dd, my dd has also got a finals place, is she trying for yr 7?
  6. Hi balletmum my dd is auditioning for mids too, not sure what the audition is like, but have been told there is long wait for results (not until march?) As they assess the current mids in about feb time. Good luck to your dd what centre is she applying for?
  7. Have watched the you tube footage of anna age 10, she obviously has great natural talent, but surely to be of that standard at such a young age her parents must have been able to afford many hours of training a week, even my dd who is a ja asked how she got to be so advanced at 10. Dd said the dance is from intermediate foundation?
  8. Does anyone know if the finals are an all day thing? Just thinking ahead to booking hotel, trains etc!
  9. Hi margot dd was in the 1st class of the day.
  10. Congratulations, our letter arrived today, yes for finals!
  11. Dd was in the audition for approx 1 hour & 15 mins. Dd tells me it was v.similar to her ja class, parents were able to watch the last 10 mins of the audition which was great.
  12. Dd had her yr 7 audition today v.impressed with how welcoming everyone was, parents given a talk & tour of the school. Does anyone know how many get through to the finals?
  13. Thanks for all the advice, never been to birmingham before! How many applicants are there in the audition classes? And how many roughly are there in the final audition? Should dd wear ballet shoes with elastic do they look at their feet in the audition? Sorry for all the questions!
  14. Does anyone know of any hotels near elmhurst? Sent dd application only on monday & had a reply yesterday to say she has an audition on the 6th, not long to arrange things.
  15. Thanks for that info, have received an application form, was hoping they have an associate scheme for ages 11+ as dd is a year 6 ja.
  16. Have tried emailing young dancers academy about associate classes but haven't had a reply, is it better to phone them? Would just like to know when the auditions are held.
  17. Does anyone know if the young dancers academy have an associate scheme? Have looked on their website but there is only info on full time courses which we could not afford as appt there isn't funding? Dd would be auditioning for a year 7 place. Thanks
  18. Your dd being a yr 6 rbs ja must have received a invitation to attend an audition workshop at the end of oct, this should give lots of info about auditions, funding etc. My dd is also keen to audition for w/lodge, mids, but have told her she can only accept a place if there is funding available!
  19. We have hylands house in chelmsford nearby which is a v.similar building to white lodge & that is often used for weddings at weekends. I agree with others why not use it for functions, weddings etc at weekends if it will raise vital money!
  20. My dd started ja last year in a size 1 which was slightly baggy on shoulders, i ordered the size 0 & that was way too small! Dd will still wear her size 1 for year 6 as the size 2 is big. If i were you order the size down to compare
  21. Hi, i am still awaiting ja invoice, received it earlier last year maybe post is slightly delayed this year from london because of the olympics?
  22. Thanks for that great advice, my dd is v.flexible, so thought that might be something to do with it, also fingers click too occasionaly & shes only 10!
  23. Hi, my dd has been complaining recently that her back makes a clicking noise whenever she stretches to the side & backwards, its not painful. She does have a back which is more like a gymnast although she doesnt do any gymnastics, should i be concerned about this and take her to a physio? Thanks.
  24. Yes your dd will really enjoy her time as a ja, the time goes so quickly couldnt believe how fast my dd yr 5 went. I remember watching her in the 1st class last sept and looking at the other yr 5's some of which had already done yr 4, they did look v good and was worried dd might find it hard & competitive, but the teachers are excellent & i was amazed at how quickly dd progressed, she loves the classes & has made new friends, its a fantastic experience, so dont worry!
