  1. I'm so glad the company are coming back to London this promises to be inspiring! Thanks for sharing all of this info Osipova and Vasiliev were amazing in 2010 when they came over with the Bolshoi I specifically booked tickets just to see them perform together I managed to gain a last minute seat in the director's box for Le Corsaire which gave an excellent view of the wings and a close up of 3/4 stage - an amazing introduction to ballet as it was the first ever live performance I had seen! I hope to see Zakharova perform this time around as she was on maternity leave during the 2010 tour I would have loved to see her perform Giselle not only because it's my favourite ballet but also because she seems amazingly suited to the role. The Bolshoi's performances coincide nicely with my summer intensive at London Amateur Ballet so I will be snapping up some tickets once they are on sale for Swan Lake and Bayadere, does anyone have any idea when tickets are normally released?
  2. Booking is now open for the Mikhailovsky company tour to London in March/April of this year. I've just snapped up tickets for performances of Giselle on 26th March - casting yet to be announced but I'm crossing my fingers for Osipova - and Laurencia 2nd April 2012. I'm really surprised there hasn't been a press release yet to announce that tickets are now on sale! 26th-29th March Giselle ou Les Wilis http://www.eno.org/see-whats-on/productions/production-page.php?&itemid=2365 30th- 31st March Don Quixote http://www.eno.org/see-whats-on/productions/production-page.php?&itemid=2366 2nd-3rd April Laurencia http://www.eno.org/see-whats-on/productions/production-page.php?&itemid=2367 5th-6th April Multiplicity. Forms of Silence and Emptiness http://www.eno.org/see-whats-on/productions/production-page.php?&itemid=2368 7th April Without Words. Nunc Dimittis. 3. It's great to be back in the studio it was my first two ballet classes of the term this evening and I have another class and pointe class tomorrow evening.I started my barre workout classes - ballet based body conditioning/stretching/strengthening classes - last Thursday and took the more advanced class - big mistake! I could barely walk the next day and I had to cancel my Saturday class I was so out of shape - so embarrassing! Does anyone have any foolproof methods for beating DOMS? I've tried epsom salt baths but for some reason this does not have the promised alleviating effect on my sore muscles, it works wonders for everyone else I know though.
  4. I received my confirmation yesterday I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone who is attending from the balletco forum this ballet intensive promises to be a great experience!
  5. You were right FullContretemps I received an e-mail from Tom promptly this afternoon so my form and deposit have now been sent just a case of crossing fingers and toes and hoping for the best! I hope we are all successful
  6. It would be great if we could have a group of ballet co dancers on the course! I filled in the How to get involved box and sent an e-mail but I haven't heard back so I'm becoming concerned that I won't be able to apply for a space in time
  7. You're welcome Just Ballet and thank you London Amateur Ballet for advising of more information! I've just sent through my details I hope we all are able to attain a place and if so I look forward to seeing everyone there. It looks like it would be an amazing experience!
  8. Monday 29th July - Friday 2nd August http://www.londonamateurballet.com/ The website promises more information soon at the moment there are only dates for the summer intensive but I thought I would give a heads up to any ballet enthusiasts out there I was planning to travel to Richmond Virginia to attend one of the Sun King ballet intensives in August but I may just make a trip to London instead - if I can attain a place, so exciting! I live outside London so I am not able to attend the LAB classes during term time, does anyone have experience of London Amateur Ballet and if so would you recommend it?
  9. Thanks for sharing BankruptMum this sounds like an excellent opportunity, I am printing of the forms and completing them right now!
  10. Hello! I'm new to the forum, I've been following all of the very informative threads for years - while the forum was still part of ballet.co.uk - and I've finally summoned up the courage to post. I just wanted to chime in as I have a very wide foot - XXXXX in Grishko 2007s and I have found that going up half a size compared to my street shoe size in Freed men's leather ballet shoes, which seem to be wider, has helped. The leather stretches out over time - I normally wear the shoes at home first covered in socks to allow the heat of my feet to stretch out the leather - and the shoes tend to last for quite a while, I've just replaced my original pair after two years!
