  1. Hi I hadnt even realised there was accommodation there.  It doesnt seem apparent on their website, I am sure you will be enlightened very soon, this forum is full of lovely people who have lots of experience about lots of things.

  2. Has anyone's year 4 ever been offered a place?

Hi my DD got in as a year 4, she was the only one that year, her friend got a swl letter.  DD now year 5.  Last year there were 3 year 4's got in, two of those had auditioned the previous year and had received a no and a swl.  I would say its worth auditioning if your DD wants to even if its just for the experience.  My DD really enjoyed the experience.

  3. My dd will be taking her RAD Primary Ballet exam very shortly. She is 7.2 and has been taking two ballet classes a week out of choice since Pre Primary.  Just wondering what the format is for the exam and any other helpful tips that anyone might have...

Most of all, she is so excited about the prospect of having her first character skirt next term when she moves up to Grade 1 and to (her words) dancing longer dances!

Thanks to all for such interesting and informative pages as our children lead us along the dance route!

Hi our teacher gave the children a dvd and the format of the exam with potential marks.  I must admit for both my daughters we only looked at the dvd a few times and they actually didnt take any notice of the written format.  I got the impression they had been coached well enough in the format and what was to come that it was more of an enjoyable experience for them.

  4. Hi gazelle my DD also does a mix of styles similar to your DD including mod and tap, one of these styles is also ballroom and she has found that everything in ballroom is opposite to ballet, she is always saying that she has to adjust her brain and body to accommodate the difference in posture and feet. Fortunately she doesnt do enough of it per week for it to affect her ballet posture.  I would just probably let her try a few classes of each and see what she thinks.

  6. Hello my DD knows children who go to both of these programs and we have heard quite positive reports from both They appear to be quite different in their delivery. I am aware that one tends to be in the morning and another in the afternoon I suppose to audition for both and see what the outcome is at least you can make a decision then. Your DD may prefer one over the other at audition. There is also JA for a day coming up at various venues with the RBS.

    Good luck in your decision

  7. Hello and welcome to the forum. I am sure you will receive alot of brilliant advice with regard to Elmhurst. I am aware that the auditioning process has begun for next September 2013's intake as I know some JA's who have just auditioned and are about to this week. It is worth looking on their website for further dates for the next intake.

    Good luck

  8. Further on in the website they are actually advertising auditions for temporary and permanent dancers in the corps de ballet for 16 to 26 year olds. What an amazing opportunity!!
