Looking for Saturday or Sunday classes accessible from East Anglia
Katymac replied to Katymac's topic in Doing Dance
If this is what you are referring to - http://www.eastyouthdance.co.uk/your_area/norfolk - there isn't a lot on there; is there somewhere else I should look? I work in childcare & £10 an hour (ish) including any activity is not a bad price to be honest (allowing for 15 yos not needing chiildcare ) But things that aren't audition entry seem (to me) to have less value as anyone can do them.....unless you get kicked out if you aren't good enough I don't really understand these things tbh; but DD's dance teacher thinks she needs extra classes/experiences -

This is so scary - putting DD through auditions she might not be good enough for.... I wonder if something like : http://www.theurdangacademy.com/part-time-courses/urdang-youth-academy/ or http://www.laine-theatre-arts.co.uk/junior-squad.php would be better as they don't need an audition Tring would be very difficult to get to for us I think -
The green square is in the reply box on the forum (but not - I think - if you are using a phone) (it's slightly to the left of the smilie face on the row below)

Thanks Michelle - I'd never have worked it out

DD's teacher has suggested this - http://www.cecchetti.co.uk/youngdancers/associates/centralsouth/index.php But I'm guessing it's impossible to get into -
I promised to post a photo for Just Ballet - but I have been struggling with technology......so I've downloaded it from my phone, I've cut ot so no-one esle is in the photo & now I cannot get it on here....I'm a techno failure

Has anyone heard anything about this http://www.artistryyouthdance.com/ ? DD was given a flyer at Move-it & I wondered if anyone knew any more...

Thanks - I'll have a look I don't think she is particularily stronger in either Ballet or Contemporary - she started too late; but is keen to catch up -
Thanks No amount of funding makes up for being sidelined and ignored - we are sad but resigned as it is the right decision
-
Oh wow - how wonderful
-
DD resigned on Monday & had her exit interview today; so asking isn't really on I don't think she will audition for another CAT as contemporary (taught thier way) isn't really her thing (although she has liked some cunningham clases) I guess I'm on the look out for monthly classes in London or something just to keep things ticking over
-
If a child attends a CAT with an MDS - can that be transferred to another CAT (assuming they get through the auditions)? If so - how?
-
Hi Michelle - glad I recognised you; sorry I had to run off but the Salsa/Mambo was calling to me I only managed 3 classes over 2 days; DD did 7 & even DH managed 5! We ate at Strada on Saturday night but last night only managed a baguette on the train home!
-
Waves - I loved the stand too - have you thought of mounting the clothes on velcro backed card next time? We totally misjudged the standard of the classes (apart from Ballet) & were quite disappointed
-
I booked a premier inn
-
It's ticket only I think - but you can buy dance class tickets on the day (if they aren't fully booked) We just found out we can go for 2 days, instead of 1 - if we can find a hotel
-
We're going.....DH & DD have booked loads of courses I'll try & find Just Ballet's stand.........maybe you should have BalletcoForum badges?

Thanks I'll have a look -
DD was gutted; we left But happy ending, she is doing grat with her current teacher - who knows you can't brush DD's hair or use any prducts on it as we do a no shampoo method of cleaning & loves it "out & wild" but not for Ballet
-
DD is mixed race & her hair is wild; she can do a bun, but her front hair is never smooth We have fallen out with a teacher who was disparaging about her hair (everyone was being 'taught' to do plaits over the top of their head which were sewn in using a horse grooming needle & when I asked about DD she said " well maybe you should brush it a bit more often" She just has big hair <sigh>
-
I'm 5ft 5 & DH is 6ft 2 - will that make DD 5ft 6? If so she has a way to go yet Mind you that sounds more reasonable than the HV who suggested she would be 5ft 11.5.........after measuring her hands & feet as a toddler
