  2. Carlos Acosta book is really good. It made my ds realise how lucky he is as CA had to sleep on concrete floors....

    Or A cat called Bob.

Couldn't put it down! True story of Bob who you will see or have seen in Covent Garden and befriended a unemployed guy who beg for money in Covent Garden. This cat just followed him everywhere even to Tottenham Court Road from CG. Amazing, heart warming book. Now they live together ")

aw, Fiz and Tulip, thank you so much :) I really don't know what i'd do without all the kindness I have received from this forum... It has occurred to me that if I can't get in to a summer school, then surely I've got no chance of getting in to a 6th form school when the competition is so incredibly fierce, but I am determined to just keep trying; this time next year I will probably have to accept that I'm never going to dance professionally so i'm going to enjoy aiming for my dream whilst I can :) xxx

  4. Box splits are.....back against the wall and then left leg against wall to your left and right leg against the wall to your right ") hope I have explained ok

Forgot to say sit down on the floor.

I hope nobody tried my instructions........oh dear could be painful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. I think that is absolutely terrible and on the verge of cruelty to make that young girl cry like that. She could damage her poor little body if she was crying. why are so many mums pushy? Sorry but I would have said 'excuse me but do you know your daughter is crying as you're hurting her'. We all help our children but not to that extent.

  7. Its great ti look back at past experiences, here goes:

Ds sister was always doing workshops at RBS and ENB. Ds said he wanted to do one.

One came up at RBS (trying to keep this short)

Day came to go, I am in bed ill, so dad leaves early to take him from Didcot Parkway railway. My last words were 'good luck and don't be late!'

3/4's hour later I call him (thinking they are at Paddington) and they are still sat on the train at Didcot Parkway. Someone had jumped in front of a train ahead of them near Reading. Panic set in, feeling sick for ds.

Eventually they got to Covent Garden and Lifts weren't working......ds ran up all those stairs with dad in tow"(.

Got to RBS, Miss Wade was waiting and was really nice and ds only missed warm up.

I wrote to Miss Wade and said:

    Dear Miss Wade,

Sorry Ds was late but someone jumped in front of the train ahead of ds and dad's train leaving 45 mins late.

When they got to Covent Garden they had to run up the stairs as lifts were out of order. So all in all ds said 'that was his warm up he missed' although his dad thought different, ( he was a little hot to say the least).

Ds son had a lovely day, thankyou.

    Yours....

2 days later Ds dad got a call from Miss Wade saying my letter was the high light of their day, made them all laugh in office at RBS.

If ds had not attended workshop that day ds would not be going to WL, as on this day Miss Wade asked ds's dad to bring him for an audition for JA's.

This has been very interesting and extremely helpful - my DD is less nervous now she has some idea of what she will be doing. She has been practicing her flexibility exercises like mad - she's great at froggy legs both ways and king cobra and the stretching both arms and legs whilst keeping back flat to the floor, but she's struggling with box splits a bit (has noticeably improved but it's not perfect). She's just taking it all in her stride as she knows that with 18 months of lessons for 45 mins a week she's very inexperienced. We had the email confirmation a few days ago, so we're just waiting on a date now!
