The current year 7 had 16 dancers and 5 drama/music students when they started. 2 have left during the year so currently 19 in Year 7.

Oh well maybe normal for year 7 intake this year then. Fingers crossed for everyone still trying to raise funding xx

In my daughter year 7 class (Sept 2018) there were 18 dancers and one drama. Just over half had MDS.
in Year 8 seven joined but two left, so year group totalled 24. I think there are 6-8 joining this September a mixture of dance and drama, so it will rise to roughly 30 for year 9.

I hope you manage to find some funding for your daughter. Fingers crossed x

    Thanks @margarite

Less than a hand full got fee remission (which is less than last years fee remission) and only 12 MDs all to year 7 😢. Hard times

I think I heard them say in meeting last week that there were only 17 year 7 dance pupils but maybe I misheard. If that is right then that is a lot less than previous cohorts of year 7 xx

I didnt hear that on the meeting I thought all were going on there , Hammond have said most parents are self funding this year wish that was an option , best of luck

No, on the year 10 meeting they said there were 10 potential new starters but only 3 definates as the rest were still trying to raise the funding. I think you are right though more having to self fund this year compared to previous years xx

Has anyone been lucky enough to find a way of  self funding ?

Still trying and on the virtual induction last week it sounded like there were lots of people having to find funding. I think covid is having an impact on many of the organisations that would previously helped so not sure how many will be able to secure funding. We will keep trying until last minute but looking less and less likely that dd will be able to go x

Has anyone else had welcome letters? I am failing to get a response or a line of communication going. We are currently looking at options to fund this opportunity, which you will appreciate is a huge commitment. At the moment we feel so far down their list. It’s incredibly discouraging.

Yes we had welcome letters and also desperately trying to source some funding so that dd can take up her place. I haven't completed any forms yet though xx

Has anyone else just had a welcome email off the Hammond? Dd can’t do without an MDS which I stated in the financial forms so I’m surprised to get it.

I was told they will continue with enrolment until I tell them otherwise so assume you need to formal tell them if not taking up place x

It was for year 8. As far as I’m aware, all the mds this year went to year 7 so unfortunately there was never a chance for dd.

    Have you tried emailing them?

I'm assuming any fee remission will also have gone to year 7 as that is really the only cohort they need and with limited funds available they will have made them a priority. All our children have done extremely well to be offered a place so I'm sure they all have great futures ahead of them whatever path they take xx

So sorry to hear of the disappointments, especially as these young people have had more stresses to deal with than average this year. In some ways I think it is harder to get so close and then be unable to take up a place than it is to receive a "no" in the first round of auditions. Remember that your children have demonstrated real potential to get to this point, and that there will be more opportunities in the future.

I was watching a video with my sporty son today, in which one of his sports heroes was giving advice to young atheletes. He started by saying how those who are "the best" at youth level are not necessarily those destined for professional success. Early success, he suggested, was largely down to physical strength, with those boys who hit puberty early often winning by virtue of superior power. But, he went on to say, that all evens out with time, and indeed the late bloomers may ultimately have the edge, because they have learned superior skills, tactics and resilience as they couldn't simply rely on brute strength. He encouraged those who aren't at the top currently to keep trying whilst cautioning those who are the big winners at the moment not to become complacent and to explore their weaknesses. Obviously that advice doesn't carry over to dance precisely, but the principles certainly do. The game is definitely not over at 11, or even necessarily at 16 and disappointment today may become strength tomorrow.

    Thanks xx

  10. No fee remission for us unfortunately so unless I have a lottery win looks like no year 10 start at Hammond for my dd. One very upset young lady as last opportunity until upper school 😥

Good luck to anyone still waiting and thank you to all on this forum for your support throughout this process xx

  11. No not heard anything , keep refreshing my emails between phone calls for work. As I'm sure I've said on here before I am a very impatient person, haha. This process has definitely tested my patience, it's been 7 months today since dd audition and really just want to know one way or another what is happening. Unfortunately I have lost all hope but suppose I need to wait for email xx

Thanks will do but I'm not expecting anything and I think dd lost all hope aswell but still keeping our fingers crossed xx

Thanks for that info Butterfly. Has anybody else had an email reminding them about sending in finance forms?

I suppose they will want to make sure they have everyone's forms in who are wanting to be considered for finance before they make final decisions on any fee remission. What's an extra couple of weeks waiting!! Fingers crossed for everyone xx
