  1. My DD moved away at 16 to do a 3 year course which incorporates the L3 extended diploma and also the DDE, she is loving it and is getting amazing training. The course takes student from 16 and those students do the L3 BTEC but it also takes older students who just do the 3 year college diploma and DDE so the level of training is certainly not below her level. My DD had her IDTA Advanced ballet and high grades in Jazz and Tap but is still developing and gaining a great deal from the course. I do think it depends on where you go for the L3 though but happy to answer any questions
  2. I can highly recommend Renaissance Arts Scholars. My DD did scholars for 3 years and is now in first year at Renaissance Arts at 16 year old and absolutely loving life! They do work them really hard at scholars but that prepares them for full time training if that is what they want to do, whether that is with Renaissance or elsewhere. My DD did a few associate programmes over the years and she definately got the most out of RA Scholars as far a technique training goes. @Pixiewoois your DD auditioning for Sept next year? Huge good luck if she is. Happy to answer any questions on both the scholars programme and the full time training at Renaissance
  3. My dd has just started in first year at Renaissance Arts and is loving it, highly recommended
  4. Yes I have discovered that aswell, good selection of shops and a Costa with free parking. It never seems that busy either so can always get parked. Only a few sessions left for us now as DD starting full time at Renaissance in sept xx
  5. Im so pleased for your DD, she can now relax and look forward to going away to do what she loves!
  6. There is some info on their website about funding, depends on age of DD/DS and whether they will complete the BTEC as part of course.
  7. Hi, is anyones DD/DS auditioning for the full time courses at Renaissance for Sept 2022 or can anyone give any advice/comments about the course/accommodation etc, thanks
  8. My dd thought the same as yours and certainly wasnt expecting to have to wear mask for dancing, she wasnt impressed especially with it being a hot day yesterday. I guess they will get used to it and hopefully Northern Ballet might change their guidelines soon. I hadnt even thought about them singing in a mask, that must be really strange for them. My dd also finishes at 5.30 so must be in same group as yours and it was chaos yesterday and can only imagine it will get worse as weather gets bad and more people will be in cars rather than walking back to cars. She did love being back though and still came out buzzing as she does after every scholars session so its all worth it!!
  9. I know, nightmare. Luckily I knew about it as there wasnt any when dd did the summer intensive, sorry didnt think to put it on here. I parked in Templar Street car park behind Sports Direct, cheaper than I used to pay at Quarry Hill and only a 5 min walk to Northern Ballet. Think I will be dropping off and then parking in the winter months though as cant imagine dd being very happy walking in her leotard, haha What did your dd think about dancing in masks?
  10. Hope all the new Scholars enjoy their first session this Sunday. My DD is looking forward to getting back to the classes
  11. I think there are quite a few do the vocal class. My DD doesnt as she has singing lessons anyway and as the vocal class is normally before the Scholars session it would mean leaving home earlier for us as we live 2 hours away from Leeds. Might see you at the intensive if you can get her booked on xx
  12. Thats great news, Im sure she will love it. Huge well done to her! Is she doing the summer intensive?
  13. Good luck to anyone waiting on outcomes of Scholars auditions, I hear results are starting to come out
  14. No, but my DD will be starting in her 3rd year with Scholars in Sept and she loves it, she is also auditioning for full time there for next Sept and Mr Howland has certainly brought back her passion for ballet over the past few years. It is a very good programme with high quality training. Huge good luck to your DD
  15. Do you think it is worth applying for this if dd has never been a junior or mid associate with Royal Ballet?
  16. My dd also trains with scholars and would highly recommend to anyone thinking of audtioning. My dds experience of audition same as @Pixiewoobut again it was a couple of years ago. Good luck to anyone auditioning xx
  17. I see Hammond have added some extra auditions for both lower school dance and theatre arts for Sept 2021 entry. I wonder how many other schools/colleges look to increase their numbers now restrictions are hopefully starting to lift. Good luck to anyone auditioning xx
  18. @HowMuch!I had the same when I sent application for the summer intensive but I emailed to check they had the application and fee and they responded to say they did. Have you emailed info@thescholars.co.uk? I can highly recommend Scholars, my dd has attended for 2 years now, the training is very good!!
  19. You will get all the welcome emails etc until you formally decline the offer of a place. The school were great last year and gave us until the absolute last minute (2nd Sept) to let them know that my dd wasnt going as we were trying to raise funds ourselves, which during the pandemic proved difficult. We were even offered a small bursery from the school at the last minute but for a number of reasons we decided she wouldnt take up her place. She was gutted but knows everything happens for a reason. All you dd and ds are amazing to get this far and i am sure that they will continue to grow and develop as dancers, going onto great things. My dd was for year 10 last year so cant apply again until upper school but she has decided to take these 2 years to work on her technique and look at all her options for upper school, of which Hammond may well be one of them but there are so many great training places out there so also using these 2 years to do as many workshops, seminars, classes, summer schools etc to try out other schools to see which ones she wants to apply to and she is keeping her options open. As someone on here has said before "All roads lead to Rome", there are so many ways to reach the same goal!! Congratulations to all who have been offered MDS and bursery and well done to all who made the recall, you should be extremely proud of yourselves!! xx
  20. Well done everyone x
  21. Fingers crossed for your dd @Flowerand everyone else waiting. I see from the topics that people are hoping for Hammond results today. I remember that day last year, constantly checking this forum and my emails to see if people had found out. Hope your dd gets some good news x
