Has anyone else seen Neil Brand's excellent series about movie musicals? It's currently being repeated on BBC4 and the first episode included a long segment about Fred Astaire. Lovely to watch excerpts from classics like 'Top Hat' and even better to see Steven McRae reproducing some of his amazing tap sequences. Should still be on iPlayer if you missed it. Highly recommended!
Linda
One of the best things I have seen in a long time, so well researched and presented. The first episode 1 (of 3) available at the moment the rest are coming soon on BBC 4.

Joseph Sissons has, from today, an instagram series of messages about Black History month., on the ROH instagram channel. He's as inspirational and sincere a thinker as he is dancer. There are contributions from other dancers, including Joseph Aumeer, Beatrix and Will Bracewell.
Joseph Sissons is I think a sensitive, thoughtful and articulate communicator, I feel that what he says is worth listening to. And a great dancer.

Not really - the only reason I know Dracula is there is because I have time to look and keep telling myself I'm going to watch it. You, on the other hand, probably have a life. 😀
I life that includes a lot of ballet! And I thought you did write it on a kind way, which I appreciated.

Not easy to find - buried at the bottom of the "Arts" category list. You couldn't find it unless you already knew it was there or had a lot of time to look
You are kind to put it like that.

Thanks, Janite. Has that one been on already, or was it announced for earlier in the year but then not shown?
I don't know if it was shown or not but it was down to be on the BBC earlier this year.

I spoke to someone I know who runs a theatre and this was their reply:
"It’s really a matter of looking on the websites of the particular arts organisations they want to support or have an interest in that art form. Most will be charities and have online donation options with gift aid, etc. There aren’t really charities that are the collective for an art form – to get money to an artist/artistic enterprise they need to go direct to that organisation."
hope that helps
