this review turned up on my stream
https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2020/dec/28/disney-on-pointe-ballet -
I have been gifted the whole season and apart from being very excited about this I wondered if anyone has a good knowledge of SFBlallet dancers and who I could be looking our for. I will also post as I watch, though I am not as knowledgable as many on here I hope to give you a flavour of them.

I have just been told the better word is 'queue' not 'pigtail', so much to learn.

I felt mildly uncomfortable in the Chinese dance - I'm no expert and not up to date, but I'd got the impression that the pigtails on the men wasn't the preferred thing these days (in addition to other things). It was the dance in this production most capable of offending people of that nationality or heritage.
Like you I feel very uncomfortable with the Chinese dance done in pigtails. While the finger pointing has, thank goodness, been replaced in many productions the pigtails have remained. Phil Chan (Final Bow for Yellow Face) explained that the pigtail was a symbol of oppression similar to the yellow star the Jews had to wear. It would be such an easy fix to get another wig design.
Here is the interview with him and it is worth a watch in my opinion. He is a thoughtful person.
(he talks about this around 6 mins)

Don't this one on You Tube, Don Q from the Royal Ballet

Scottish Ballet will be streaming The Fairy’s Kiss and The Rite of Spring for FREE on their YouTube channel from 25 December to 5 January
Great news, the Secret Theatre is wonderful. -
I am also enjoying 'Dance Dreams Hot Chocolate Nutcracker' on Netflix. Debbie Allen, who was in the film 'Fame' some years ago, has a dance school and they put on a Nutcracker with lots of different styles of dance, all of which are taken very seriously. It's a bit of fun at Christmas if you feel in need of it.

I see the BFI as a sort of British Library for film and tv and a fascinating archive of our media history (and hopefully present as well). It would be wonderful if stuff could be digitised and available on a pay per view basis but that would obviously cost serious money and might also infringe copyright. At least we can see it in London whenever we're able to get there again.
Maybe, when we are able to do things again, if anyone is going to watch anything at the BFI they could post; so that if there are others who want to see it they could join in and so spread both the joy and the cost.

I have watched Yuri Possokhov's work 3 times and I find more in it each time. I agree with LACAD at being disappointed not to see more of Frolla and Hawes, but for me a rich work.

A friend bought this for me and I remembered that some people on here wanted to support free lance artists and musicians. Here is a great way to do it.

If you need (or can stand) another Nutcracker the Teatro San Carlo (Cuthbertson/Muntagirov)
Thank you I did need another Nutcracker and not only was it wonderful to see Vadim and Lauren dance but I also enjoyed a different choreography. -

It was, Janite, wasn’t it. A fascinating perspective upon those long ago times.
One of the good things about ballet, music and dance in general is how it transcends divides. -

And for anyone who is interested, you can catch Saturday's Music Matters on Radio 3 which, towards the end, included a fascinating account by Allegra Kent of dancing Agon in Russia with Arthur Mitchell during the Cuban Missile crisis.
I can’t work out how to share it at the moment, but I can tell you it starts at 28 mins in and I found it very interesting.- 1

Correction: TWO Ashton masterpieces
I was literally just wondering whether to put this on my Christmas/birthday list, so I guess now I can audition it, rather better than in my local cinema at the time, where we had the worst pixellated RB experience I've ever had
That sounds like a frustrating evening, I am glad you are getting another opportunity albeit on a smaller screen.
I clearly need to check the blurb before I post it!
