A lot of tickets seem to have been released for previously sold-out performances on the ROH website this evening - a range of prices.

I would love to take my young dancers to see Nutcracker, especially as my daughter will be dancing in her first Nutcracker soon! Is anyone selling tickets to ROH Nutcracker?  Pref stalls or dress circle as it would be their Christmas Treat/present

Or a Box would be an amazing as they have never seen ROH Nutcracker before!

  3. Hello!
Would love to get a boys unitard for my son for his birthday eg Imperfect Pointes! Probably Men’s Small or Medium. 14 nearly 15 but 5ft 7, 35 in chest. 28 in waist. His younger brother would love one too (4 foot 7, very petite build boy dancer) Many thanks!

I’m afraid I can’t help re: dress but how joyous to think of Maypole Dancing taking place!

I have very happy memories of doing this in PE ( yes, dance was considered part of PE quite rightly back n the 1970’s!) at junior school & then for school fetes/sports day/visiting hospitals & care homes etc along with doing English Country Dancing….!

I was thrilled when found out local primary was doing it & my kids were really excited…. Well, it lasted about 2 weeks when one idiot child went out of bounds, played with the ribbons & pulled pole over onto himself. Huge health & safety furore with nightmare ‘my little darling’s could’ve been killed’ parent…. Well her little darling was old enough to follow rules & was not hurt either….but of course, that was the end of maypole dancing for everyone really before it had begun 🙄😢

Good luck sourcing a pretty dress…. might be worth looking round charity shops? Does she need to ‘match’ in with other dancers? Might your local dance school have a white or similar dress that you could borrow (am thinking crowd scenes type costumes!) & then maybe add colourful ribbon at waist or tack on some flower embellishments?

Thank you so much for this lovely message! I will ask around. Yes, so joyous to think of maypole dancing being able to take place again after two years of cancellations due to covid! Thank you too for your suggestions which are v helpful! 🙂

Are there any stipulations?  Does it have to be white, for instance (is this actually for May Day?)  What sort of age is she?

Thank you so much for your reply! I think it needs to be a beautiful dress, white with colourful pink or turquoise coloured flowers 🌸 would be nice! She is 14, tall for her age but very petite and slim (typical ballet dancer build)

  6. My daughter has been asked to Maypole dance this year (after two years of cancelled events due to covid), but her maypole dancing dress from 2 years ago (pre covid) is now too small! Can anyone help please? She is tall (5”6) but very slim and petite in build. Any suggestions where I could get such a dress would be helpful! It needs to be beautiful and of course be possible to dance in! Many thanks for your help.

  7. Congratulations to all the winners! A bit disappointed as I was so hoping to win Matthew Ball’s dance shoes or Brandon Lawrence’s as they are both great heroes to my young ballet dancer sons and I thought it could help inspire them for their dance journey and auditions! Well done everyone who won these lovely prizes. And many happy returns to the wonderful @BalletcoForum Moderators xxx
