Does anyone know why one of the three big MacMillan ballets usually starts a season?

I would guess two reasons - firstly that they are frequently performed and so known by many of the dancers, and so don't require as much rehearsal given that it's the start of the season and dancers have been on summer break. Secondly because in comparison with for e.g. Petipa, they are not the most demanding in terms of classical technique, which again is helpful after a long summer break.

    Scènes de ballet / A Month in the Country / Rhapsody - Saturday 23 April 2022 7.30pm

It looks as if the camera seats may have been released for this performance. The Camera filming is now listed for the 12:30 performance. This would make sense as both filmings would now be the same cast.

That explains how I managed to snap up a pair of very central SCS yesterday afternoon!

I'm hoping for Mayerling again before Manon, given Mayerling was last done in October 2018 & Manon in October 2019. Though I suppose the ROH may think Manon more bankable & I suspect that next season, like this season, they're going to want as many guaranteed sell-outs as they can get.

Mayerling will be performed in 2022, by Scottish ballet, in a new version adapted from Macmillan's original production. I expect it will be seen in London in 2023 at Sadler's Wells.

  4. It looks as if the people in front have a full view so wouldn't have any valid reason to lean forward/move around. Can you angle yourself on the high stools on row C or angle the seats at all? I'm not tall, but also don't mind about lack of comfort...It also seems appealing in row C to have no-one behind, as at least you can move your own head around too, presumably, if the person in front is doing the same- without having to worry about ruining it for the person behind?

I'm wary of booking performances in London (not because of it being London).

I've got a weekend booked in May and I cannot book return train fares home!!  What a nightmare!!

This keeps happening to me too Janet - but from Leeds and Edinburgh too. Requires rather a lot of headspace to keep track of what is booked and what can't yet be booked.

Bizarrely, for two of my forthcoming trips to Edinburgh, LNER don't seem to be running trains south after 6pm and I've had to book the Transpennine Express despite living on the East Coast Mainline.

    From Gramilano

The Australian Ballet, now under its new Artistic Director David Hallberg, has announced three new titles as part of its 2022 live stream series: Live on Ballet TV.

    • Anna Karenina will be streamed live from Arts Centre Melbourne on 8 March 2022
    • Alexei Ratmansky’s Harlequinade on 24 June 2022
    • 18 October 2022, John Cranko’s version of Romeo and Juliet

A performance costs $25 AUD (circa 18 USD/ 16 EUR).  Live on Ballet TV | The Australian Ballet

From the website - Each live stream is available to watch once only and within a single sitting. The link to access the stream is available to view for 48 hours.

Within a single sitting? No good if the toddler wakes up...I rarely drink a cup of coffee within a single sitting, let alone watch a live stream. I wonder why this is deemed necessary.
