Do you know of any years 9-10 hopefuls from Hammond getting MDS from reserve list?! I have hope in bucket loads, but my patience can be measured in a thimble! 😂

I’ve only heard of year 7 and 8’s getting in from the reserve list, but that’s just my experience. I think they also have to replace like with like, as a lot depends on available boarding spaces, too.

  2. After researching, went for more expensive 5mm thickness rather than 3mm as less likely to distort. We had to hang it carefully too. There is a slight distortion, but due to our wonky walls rather than the mirror I think.

  3. When we put mirrors in DDs bedroom I bought an acrylic mirror sheet for safety as we live in an old wonky building and was worried about it smashing! A dot 2 dance mat is a good investment if you have carpets.

  4. The content is no different, just having it as an app on her phone means DD can practise anywhere, not just where she can access a DVD player. So she used it whilst we were abroad on holiday for example. It’s also handy as she’s away at school so can practise privately in her room.

Where was her audition? We are waiting on Birmingham? Well done too!!

We went for a bursary-funded place rather than a scholarship as you don’t have to attend an audition. DD is at vocational school so it would have cost £££ if I’d travelled to pick her up and take her to scholarship auditions, with no guarantee of even getting a paid-for place.

I have a Bloch tutu your daughter could have for £20. I have the P/S size which fits me as a size 10.

Hello again, thank you so much for the offer, but I think that it’s going to be too big around the waist. DD tried on her friend’s p/s tutu and it fell down! Discovered she has a toddler-sized 22 inch waist ...

  7. I’m really surprised at this and agree that it must be disheartening for those not greeted by name.

I’ve helped out in the past with auditions (not RBS) where the helpers/audition panel didn’t overtly acknowledge children that were already known to them. This seemed very fair to me.

Auditions are already so stressful that any feeling of uncertainty or not being as welcomed as others can’t fail to have some impact.

I have also discovered Peril en Pointe by Helen Lipscombe which looks quite fun.  Some of my readers have an insatiable desire for boarding school and/or whodunnit stories - Murder Most Ladylike, Mallory Towers (really!), Agatha Christie, Mysterious Benedict .. so I'm hoping this is as much fun as it looks.

This sounds so up my DD’s street - I’ve just ordered it for her - thank you!
