  1. DD also had the 3 pk from sports direct for use at Tring. Still only on the 'stretchyest' one and she's 9 and been using them a while and is very strong. I heard one girl asking her mum for a specific colour as that's the colour she liked :/ nothing about strength was mentioned to the mum which seemed a little dangerous imho

  2. I've just caught up on all this - some of the posts are so amusing. Sorry to hear the no but don't give up. R had a straight no least year ( and it was suggested too is not to bother again) so so glad e didn't listen.

PetalV - we auditioned for London at Eastleigh. Got offered Eastleigh place or swl at London... No Brainer lol

So we will be starting in Sept at Eastleigh.

I have no clue what happens next, what she'll need etc. She was so excited when I Skyped her to give the news.

It still hasn't really sunk in!

  3. Quite the opposite is say Sarah. Apart from vicationsl schools the only schools I know of around here who employ dance teachers are state ones. Dance isn't seen as enough of an academic subject for private schools.

It usually comes under the PE department though.

I think GCSE & A level dance really depends on who they have teaching it. Many local schools see to subscribe to the be a tree & look angsty style of contemporary dance.

However I know of one local school who has a dance teacher who is also an IDTA qualified ballet teacher. She incorporates proper technique & lots of styles into her lessons.

A second subject is always useful though in terms of employability in secondary schools

for what its worth, my DDs go to private school and they have a private ballet teacher and 'genera;' dance teacher

  4. We were at a different regional final but also experiencd this - DD was called a loser by one piece of work (she got distinction with special commendation in said dance)

Some of the mums were really rude too, talking loudly about other dancers in the room and treating their own children like dirt. I was horrified tbh.

I was also a bit shocked at the organisation at times tbh, e.g. the annoucing ladies talking while dances on (without turning mics off!)

  5. Hi all

Sorry if this has been asked before but couldn't find it on here...

When you apply for mds is it on your take home or pre tax etc?

And do they take into account fees paid out for other child?

  6. I was told earlier today after the Eastleigh audition, that yr 5 is one of the harder ones to get into... can anyone confirm / deny this.  The lady talking was implying it was because the yr 4s and 5s are in one class and so the spaces will only be for any yr 4s that have left?!

    thanks.
