  1. Orchidblue - congratz to you and your dance daughter ! I'm on the reserve list to Rambert, and this gives me hope All the best wishes to everyone waiting .
  2. Flights also get more expensive by the time .. I cross my fingers for you. Let's hope we'll hear from them quickly ! I can't wait much longer haha..
  3. Rambert has announced that the closing date for applications is 2nd of May .. Do you think there will be another audition after the closing date?
  4. I find it hard to know how the schools are, because I'm from abroad and it is difficult to audition in person both time wise and economically. Rambert has at least got pictures and information on their web page.
  5. Pastel - thank you so much. I've decided not to apply for ABS, because I don't think it is right for me. Best wishes for you and your dancer daughter!
  6. Thanks, Flutterby! I believe we just have to wait then ..
  7. Katymac - I've never been to Scotland, but I guess the transition is easier ! Thank you so much for the links to Ballet West related threads. They are much appreciated.
  8. Thanks again, all the information is great !
  9. No I haven't, but I recently heard of it. Do you know how the opportunities are after doing three years at Ballet West?
  10. Thanks to you too, kat09. I've auditioned for Rambert and I'm currently placed on the waiting list. Also I got a no at ENBS and John Cranko in Gemrany - to be honest, it was expected.
  11. Thanks Fiz and Janet. I think it is such a shame that it is as hard as it is to get into classical ballet schools for 18-year olds. I understand the physical abilities criteria, and that you can train a 16 year old to what you want in an easier way than 18 year olds. From another view: I didn't start to improve in ballet until the autumn I started high school.. I've been training seriously in almost 3 years, not from I was ten . I really hope there is a school for me out there, and I will not give up quite yet, though it is tough to alway be positive and stay encouraged.
  12. Janet: I'm from Norway, so the travel will be awfully long if I end up applying. I find it really hard to apply for scgools because I don't know much about them. I'm 18, and I would like to go to a school with main focus on ballet. I'm just checking every opportunity..
  13. Okey, thank you! I aopreciate all the information. Is it worth applying at all?
  14. Lucinda: thank you so much! I've looked at the website. Is level 5-8 the three years course ?
  15. The answers are coming really late, and it is such a shame that people have to turn down Rambert because of it.. Hoping for the best, Flutterby !
  16. Are some of you known with the Australian ballet school? I'm thinking of applying for an audition, but I don't know much about the full-time program ..
  17. Oh, wow - it is really hard to wait .. I guess we won't hear from them until they have finished the auditions ..!
  18. I spend a whole day darning to finish a pair - but as I've said; I darn the whole tip of the box with tiny stitches close together.
  19. I'm darning the whole tip of the shoe, and it works with a curved needle for me. I believe capezios and freeds are worse than bloch to darn. The satin is all glued to the box ..
  20. I'm waiting for Rambert ..
  21. Are you thinking of any special schools ?
  22. I haven't heard either, and I guess we have to wait for a while .. I'm really hoping for Rambert - the school seems great I'll cross my fingers for all of us !
  23. We are entered for exams every spring if the teacher thinks we are ready to do the exam. She sends out a mail and with an offer to take the exam. I think it is a good way to do it,
  24. I'm doing yoga once a week next to ballet, and I find it really helpful - both with strength and flexibility. I've done ashtanga and avenger yoga.
  25. Inafluster - thank you so much ! I'm waiting, and I've currently got a place on the reserve list. Congratz to your DS!
