Taken from the ROH web-site.
A number of dancers will join The Royal Ballet for the forthcoming 2017/18 Season.
William Bracewell will join as a Soloist. Born in Swansea, Bracewell trained at the Pamela Miller Ballet School and the Royal Ballet School. In 2007 he won the Young British Dancer of the Year Award and was awarded the Grand Prix at the 2010 Youth America Grand Prix. He joined Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2010 and was promoted to Soloist in 2014. Bracewell was awarded the Critics' Circle National Dance Award for Outstanding Male Performance (classical) in 2015.
Also joining the Company as Artists will be Giacomo Rovero, Francisco Serrano and Charlotte Tonkinson, members of the 2016/17 Aud Jebsen Young Dancers Programme and former students from the Royal Ballet School.
Five further dancers will join The Royal Ballet as part of the Aud Jebsen Young Dancers Programme 2017/18. This year-long contract for young graduates will be taken up by Joonhyuk Jun, Joshua Junker, Sae Maeda, Nadia Mullova-Barley and Aiden O’Brien.
Stanislaw Wegrzyn will join the Company as Prix de Lausanne dancer for the 2017/18 Season.
Details of promotions for the forthcoming Season will be announced in due course.

My initial reaction is one of slight disappointment. I was hoping they might give Nutcracker a year off. Full runs for Alice and Winters Tale does nothing for me and, whilst I adore Giselle and have absolutely loved both of the ENB versions, I think it will be the casting that will draw me in. Could we see a Frankie and/or Yasmine debut? The thrill for me will be the anticipation of could we see the wonderful Alina back on the RB stage, That is something I will definitely be getting a ticket for.

I very much enjoyed this documentary. Tamara Rojo is a consummate presenter and gave some thought-provoking ideas about the relevance of Giselle today.
Gavin Sutherland is always articulate and erudite and it would be good to see more of him on TV too.
I also liked all the clips and wondered if ENB may be considering releasing DVDs as it looked as though the whole performances were filmed.
I agree with your comments Janet and I have received confirmation from Tamara that they are filming the Sadlers Wells shows with a view for a DVD release. I did report this on another thread but I can't remember which one.

It is with heavy heart that I am able to offer 2 First Circle tickets, on Row F Seats 29 and 30 for the final of the BBC Young Dancer 2017 Final at Sadlers Wells on Saturday 22nd April at their face value of £25 each and I will throw in programme voucher for good measure. I had forgotten that we are in Venice. First come first served.

Mr. Kish is cast in After the Rain, not heard anything about Mr. Golding

I was in row J and had a perfect view. If only the rake at the ROH was as good as that. Mind you, it was in the "premium" section so the tickets cost £115 each and that was at a preview.

On the whole I thoroughly enjoyed last nights preview. I would be thinking about shortening the first act, we start the show with a big number, I Got Rhythm. so the audience are up for it from the get go. Its followed by, what feels like, lots of little set changes to get the story going which involves the cast moving chairs etc whilst dancing and the sets moving in and out so you go from a bar, to a street, to the river, back to the bar and so on. So by the interval you are left a bit breathless but not really very involved. The second act is an absolute belter, the story slows down and the ballet finale is superb. The sets and costumes ( Bob Crowley ) and lighting (Natasha Katz) are very good and Mr. Wheeldon does a good job as Director and Choreographer. The Ensemble work well together and the singing/dancing is of a high order. I had to keep reminding myself that this is musical dance not ballet because I really noticed the difference. The leads are excellent, special mention to Zoe Rainey as the rich benefactor sings beautifully as do David Seadon-Young ( Composer) and Haydn Oakley ( son of theatre owners). There is no doubt though that this is a vehicle for Leanne and Robert as Lise and Jerry. Leanne maintains her French accent very well and dances beautifully but Mr. Fairchild is the absolute star of the show, He is stunning and worth the ticket money on his own. He is a great actor, can sing and dance without any effort at all and what a dancer he is. I would love to see him at the ROH. Its a huge theatre and will need some filling but a great night at the theatre.

Though not strictly ballet, can we discuss a west end show on this forum. If so, can I talk about a performance whilst still in preview, or do we wait until after official first night?

It's when you have a tune or jingle in your head and, try as you might, you just can't get rid of it! It eventually clears of its own accord, but only when it is good and ready!!
Thanks Sim, I have one regularly.

At the risk of asking a silly question but what is an earworm?

Er, that's next year, SPD!!
Yes, that's what was stated, see below.
Perhaps SPD meant that the announcement was quick. Rather than making us beg for months like we had to with Giselle
Spot on RuthE, I remember clearly how hard we worked on the RB to get that DVD.
Is this not the Nunez/Muntagirov Giselle that has just been released? Or is there another Nunez/Muntagirov en route? Incidentally i have been told that Anastasia is scheduled for Sept but that Nutcracker - I assume the cinema relay from Xmas 2016 - will not be released till Xmas 2018! Can that be right?
Here is a copy from the ROH website on the SB comments thread.

Wonderful performances all round. Are there any plans to release it as a DVD? I would imagine there would be a high demand

Sorry if this has already been posted but I have just read that a DVD of Nela and Vadim's cinema performance is being released in April 2018. That was quick.

And no change sheets

Sorry folks, I wrongly assumed that they would have changed the cast listing before putting it on the website.
-
Go on the website, click on the Cinema link and you can print out the casting for tonight.
-
So who is Aurora then?
Marianela and Vadim as her Prince.

Big guns out tonight for the cinema relay. The Fairies in the Prologue are Yuhui, Akane, Yasmine, Frankie and Helen. Florestan and sisters are James Hay, Yasmine and Beatriz; Princess Florine and Bluebird are Frankie and Alexander and Lilac is Claire.
Just about managed to get a seat in my local cinema - virtually sold out.

Good rant!
There are more on the Audience behaviour thread.

Getting my days confused! What's amazing too is to think that many of the dancers who performed so beautifully in the afternoon will have gone straight back on and given their all in the evening too. Such dedication, stamina, resilience etc! I know that's true of dancers everywhere, but it's particularly striking with a production as big as this one.
Olivia Cowley pictured her feet on Instagram before her two shows and nearly every toe is bandaged. She said they are red raw and couldn't touch her toenails. That takes some determination, well done Livs

I was sitting in row C in the centre block and had a perfect view although you lose much of the facial expressions but you make up for that seeing the patterns created by the dancing.
