So sorry Dawnstar - what a pain! But I hope you feel it was worth it! It was good to meet you.

Returned to Box Office.

Due to a bad cold/persistent cough I won’t come to the performance on Saturday. Obviously short notice and I shall return the ticket to the BO tomorrow but if anyone would like it, pm me. It’s D48 £12.
Thanks

Hi all - I'm looking for one SCS ticket for the evening performance of Cinderella on Sat April 29th. I won't be able to get to Laura's final performance in Anastasia, so this will be my last chance to see her on stage.
Fingers crossed that there's a spare ticket out there!
Many thanks

However when Stuttgart's production was streamed during lockdown Jason Reilly's Carabosse had some proper choreography, including jumps, so having a man in the role was more significant.
And I thought he was terrific! It was a much larger role, as I recall and IMHO it worked really well.

I thought the point of the ballet was that at the end she's overcome her demons and is Victorious, or something like that?
If that is so, then it's always passed me by - I find it sad and without hope .... Maybe I'm wrong, or it's just the performances I've seen, but it doesn't give me any sense of anything positive.

Her Tatiana to Bonelli's Onegin was unforgettable. I was at one performance where, during their pdd just before the interval, a woman in the Stalls started screaming her head off (her husband had collapsed). Both dancers carried on as if nothing was happening, but apparently Laura was very upset when the curtain came down. How professional to be able to keep going under such circumstances. ............. I will miss her dreadfully, but am so grateful to have such a plethora of lovely memories.
Thank you Laura, for having brought so much joy to so many of us.
Yes, I was at that performance too, and the incident happened at an emotional part of the ballet for the dancers anyway, which must have made it even harder for them (the mirror pdd). The rest of their performance was outstanding, which was a real achievement. We will miss her.

I will go too....most probably sit in the bar for the first two pieces and then pay my respects to this most wonderful dancer. I still think that she was underused throughout her career but am so happy that she will be imparting her vast knowledge on to the generations to come.
Oh no - I've just realised that I'll be away for her last performance - so Sim, you'll have to have a drink in the bar for me!! I agree with you that she's been underused, but I do so value my memories of her very special performances. A unique dancer!

Inevitable once Anastasia was announced - the last sight will be her on a bed aimlessly moving around the stage - yes it’s a great dramatic role but it’s a shame she could not have a more pleasing ‘end of a career vision.’
I agree - I wasn't going to go to this - I really dislike it - but will now have to. I can't miss her last performance, even if it is such a non-uplifting end to a stellar career ....

Very sad to hear this but as Dave says, good news that she will still be part of the RB. I will miss her on stage - I’ll not forget her stunning performances with Bonelli in Onegin and Mayerling.

Thanks for the info, Blossom - as you say, a real shame for us. Oh well - I'll just have to wait for the performance then!

I can't find the WW insight online either - does anyone know if it was filmed and if so how to access it? Thanks - but I realise it probably wasn't. So this is just a hopeful query ....

Rather bemused to see I was given options to programmes I said I had no interest in seeing, and the bizarre logic of options offered, eg if I clicked “yes” to £80 in the balcony, “no” to £120 in the Stalls, why would I click “yes” to £120 in the rear Amphi?
Yes, I was bemused as well - the options seemed completely illogical and pointless given that none of them offered my usual seating choices, and they were for programmes I had already said I was not interested in. I'm not sure what they'll learn from my answers, but I did it as well as I could! And the prices mentioned seemed incredibly high too.

This week in Links I've published a couple of book items. Below for perusal:
Wendy Perron's list of notable dance books in 2022 [...] Ashley Killar's biography of John Cranko reviewed
Jan - sorry to be dense but do you think the Cranko book is new or re-isssued? I can't seem to find that info - it has a publication date of 2022 but the photo on the front looks familiar ...I borrowed a biography like that of Cranko from the library a long time ago.
Thanks and apologies Jacky

Melissa Hamilton was a wonderful Vetsera - beautifully judged and danced. I saw both her performances and found her totally compelling. I also thought Ryo elicited sympathy, particularly in Act 3 - together they really moved me.
