  1. Hi all, when we visited RCS we were made to feel really welcome by both the faculty and the current students. I find reading through the curriculum the programme is varied but with a strong emphasis on classical ballet. We have been encouraged to contact the programme co-ordinator with any questions we might have about the degree programme and indeed any aspect of enrolling and studying at the Conservatoire. Whilst my daughter has chosen not to enrol I would have been very happy if this had been her choice for training . I think wherever you chose to train, unfortunately there is the possibility that it will be hard to secure a contract on graduation.

Sorry to hear that you did not have the same experience as us flutterby, it is disappointing especially when you travelled such a long way to attend.

  2. After the whirlwind of auditions and finals, the agony of waiting for the news to arrive, the ecstasy of multiple offers and the relief of choosing a school that my daughter can call home for the next 3 years (all being well), I found myself feeling sad today as I relinquished the offers that my DD will not be taking up . After the honour of being offered a place it feels churlish to turn it down even though I am delighted that another DD will get to live her dream through doing so. It's a funny old business this ballet journey .... and I'm only the Mum!! Good luck to all those on waiting lists ,I hope that there is a call coming your way x

  4. I'm not sure if this post is allowed and mods please feel free to remove it if not. My daughter has a facebook page which has been charting her progress towards her goal of becoming a professional ballerina ( a long way to go yet ;) ) Anyone who is or who has daughters who are interested in following her journey are welcome to "like" her page ,Ballet nut - it has appropriate privacy controls and I moderate it. She lives breathes and sleeps ballet and loves to share with those of a like mind. Kat x

  5. Good morning all. I and my DD had the pleasure of travelling to Glasgow this week as she was auditioning at RCS. The facilities at Spiers Lock are superb and all the staff we met were most welcoming. I'm wondering does anyone else here have DC auditioning here this year or DC in situ - particularly girls. I would love to get some in site into the programme from those that might already be underway in their studies or have graduated.

    Many thanks. Kat

  6. Having discussed the conversation on the page with my DD she is of the opinion that it is wonderful to dance alongside the candidates from vocational schools - it's a yardstick to measure where you are and how far you have to go .She doesn't enter to win but for the whole experience which in her words was "magical" (if a little scary)

  7. My DD danced today - one of two non vocational girls she really was just dancing for the experience and the fun. She had the most fantastic day and wishes she could do it all again. I couldn't be more proud of her .Good luck to all those through to finals ,I'm glad it's not me choosing between you - so much talent :)
