zxDaveM
The BalletBoyz (William Trevitt and Michael Nunn) tour the country with the troupe 'The Talent 2013'. They are performing two newly commissioned works, one by Russell Maliphant ('Fallen'), the other by Liam Scarlett ('Serpent'). The Talent 2013 - performing Russell Maliphant's 'Fallen' © Dave Morgan. Ian Macmillan
Judith Mackrell (Guardian) caught the start of the tour in Watford: http://www.guardian.co.uk/stage/2013/jan/20/balletboyz-the-talent-review Sounds very good, indeed. I'll be hoping to catch them in Cambridge towards the end of the run.
Jan McNulty
BalletBoyz The Talent tour of Liam Scarlet's Serpent and Russell Maliphant's Fallen finally reached the Lowry this week a year after Dave Morgan photographed the programme. I've just re-read Judith Mackrell's review from a year ago and there's no way I could even begin to sum up the evening as well as her! Please read her review... Each piece was prefaced by a short film as we have come to expect from the BalletBoyz. Liam Scarlet's Serpent used all the company dancers and was just glorious from start to finish, with beautiful, lyrical choreography. It comprised a mixture of group dances and duets. It started with the dancers lying on the floor and moving one of their arms before they got up and started dancing. It struck me that the movements were very swan like. In another section I was reminded of MichaelAngelo's Pieta. I just never wanted this work to end! Russell Maliphant's Fallen again used all the company members. It started off with all the men moving in a circle possibly reminiscent of some sort of tribal dance. I found the choreography exciting, powerful and compelling. The dancers were wonderful. What a fabulous evening!
