w445403
Does anyone have any info? DS has been encouraged to apply but it would mean travelling to London for the classes. It sounds really good and I understand there are 8 senior boys which is great but can't decide if I can/want to manage the time and expense. Already travel 1.5 hours each way for Hammond Associates and there's the problem that the days may clash and it's stressed in the info that you are expected to not miss any of the classes. My head hurts from trying to come to a decision....
HAIRBELLES
You may already know this .....there is also Cecchetti associates at Kate Simmons Warrington........maybe you could ask for this years timetable to see what potential clashes there would have been ......the timetable from London associates.....(just read this back and it sounded to me I was implying ask at Warrington) Edited May 13, 2012 by HAIRBELLES
w445403
Thanks Hairbelles can't get to Warrington from here really. I have the timetable for London but not the timetable from Hammond for next year.
primrose
Warrington is really close to Chester. Speak to Sarah Durrant (head of dance) at the Hammond, she is really helpful and if she feels your son would benefit from going to London I think she wouldnt hold him back. w445403
It's because I don't drive that makes Warrington difficult. London is very straight forward by train so I wouldn't have to rely on anyone to take us.
Legseleven
Warrington (it has several railway stations as far as I know) is on the same line as Chester, so you may be able to use the same train for Cecchetti Associates at KS as for Hammond. I would have thought that there are already students who attend both Cecchetti Associates at KS in Warrington and Hammond Associates? I'm sure both Hammond and KS could confirm their timetables and how they would deal with any potential clashes if you call them. Fingers crossed that you are able to arrange things. Let us know how you get on.
Ecarte
London Cecchetti Associates are currently based at Ballet Rambert in Richmond which if you are coming by train is quite hard to get to. It is a fabulous programme, you are expected to attend classes roughly once a month on a Sunday. The focus is classical ballet but then they also have guest teachers with different dance specialisms. They really don't like it if you do miss a class. There are also a group of scholars that meet weekly But at a different location. There are several levels of classes certainly for girls and then there is a specialist boys class.... Don't know much about the boys side of things sorry. I suppose you could always use the audition day as a trial run to judge how hard it is to get there and then decide. Good luck with your decision it's always very hard.
w445403
Thanks Legs but we don't go to Chester by train (unless we stay the night before) there aren't any on Sunday that are of any use, however I've just been looking on TheTrainline and could probably get to Warrington! More food for thought.
