Anna C
Oooh! Didn't know that, IP! Very interesting....may have to investigate that. I think they're holding off the G5 exam purely because of the maturity required for G6. I think you're right in thinking that the G5 work is age appropriate. I think I'd rather she took her G5 and then had a break before starting G6, rather than keep on going over and over the G5 work.
spooky
Spanner remember also that she doesn't actually have to take the grade 5 exam at all. You could consider just leaving the modern for a while and restarting grade 6 or intermediate at a later date. My youngest is about to take intermediate tap and for various reasons the last tap exam she took was grade 2 or 3 (so long ago I can't actually remember the grade!).
Anna C
Thanks Spooky. Yes, she did that with tap; skipped the G2 exam and then went straight to G5 class. She would actually like to take her G5 Modern exam though as she enjoys doing the exams. Strange girl! :-)
Lilac
My dd did grade 5 modern last autumn in a class aged from 11 - 13, a year after the last exam and most of them got distinction! They are now learning the grade 6 work without any issues!
