I agree that B1 is not that high a level and should be enough to dance. But schooling is compulsory, your DD would be 15 by then and if she was born in 98, she'd get in 1e, born in 99 she'd enter 2e i.e. lycée. Lycée is the last 3 years of school right after the French GCSE and when you start specialising in something more scientific, economic or literary hence a better level of French than B1 in my opinion.

It's very easy for a small kid to learn the language when they come to school in France in the little levels. It's another matter when you are in Lycée and you have the "bac" zooming in the horizon...

Hello. I found this conversation back from 2013 but just wondered if still you know anyone studying there at the moment. It is still not very much known in Europe, most probably because of the language barrier.

My DD passed the audition and will probably be the first Turkish girl to be educated there. She learnt French for this.

We do not know what to expect, it is a journey ahead of us.

Hi Derin's Mom, I'm in the same situation as you were back in 2019, I hope Derin is doing great wherever she ended up. I've just seen your post about her leaving the Paris school.
My DD has her audition next week 23 & (hopefully) 24 February, fingers crossed. Can you perhaps share any tips?
She is also from an international background, but she is about to turn 18 now so hopefully it would be better, who knows! This is where she wants to go to for her degree.

It's going to be hard, but this is what she wants, let's see.

Any further info, tips for the interview, etc would be very very welcome.

Many thanks.

Just seen your message. We are going through tough times in Turkey due to earthquakes, and so I missed a lot of notices lately. I guess her audition is over, hope all went well.

Derin is today happy in Dutch National Ballet Academy and yes she was in Paris while she was only 14. She could only stay there for 4 months and returned back before the pandemic broke.

I see that your DD is almost 18 (so is my DD) and yes that will surely help her feel more stabile. I understand she will be in classical ballet but in almost the last year (DNSM3 or 4).

Just let me know if there is more I can help today.
