bridiem
This is very belated, and it was presumably reported by the Royal Ballet at the time but if so I'm afraid I missed it. (And I've done a search on this forum which has not brought his name up, so I hope I am not duplicating the information.) Henry Roche, Head of the Music Staff at the Royal Ballet from 1991 until his retirement in 2010, died on 3 October 2022. I read this in the journal of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Great Britain, of which I am a member, so the obituary mainly covers his work as a respected genealogist who devoted decades to studying the Portsmouth Jewish community from 1736 to 1840. It also says that he was an accomplished pianist and the great-great-grandson of the Prague-born composer Ignaz Moscheles. I remember and admired Henry Roche at various Royal Ballet events over the years, and I thought his death should be noted here. May he rest in peace. 2
Sim
Thank you Bridie. I also remember him at various events at the ROH. I had no idea about the other aspects of his life, so many thanks for making us aware. RIP Mr Roche.
Emeralds
I remember his playing and did wonder on and off, in recent years, where and how he was. Thank you for passing on this news and the information about his other accomplishments, bridiem. Rest in peace, Henry Roche.
