Henry Roche RIP

Recommended Posts

This is very belated, and it was presumably reported by the Royal Ballet at the time but if so I'm afraid I missed it. (And I've done a search on this forum which has not brought his name up, so I hope I am not duplicating the information.) Henry Roche,  Head of the Music Staff at the Royal Ballet from 1991 until his retirement in 2010, died on 3 October 2022. I read this in the journal of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Great Britain, of which I am a member, so the obituary mainly covers his work as a respected genealogist who devoted decades to studying the Portsmouth Jewish community from 1736 to 1840. It also says that he was an accomplished pianist and the great-great-grandson of the Prague-born composer Ignaz Moscheles. I remember and admired Henry Roche at various Royal Ballet events over the years, and I thought his death should be noted here. May he rest in peace.
