Northern Ballet today released a press release today announcing they are doing two 'surprise' performances of Casanova at Manchester Palace Theatre on 4 and 5 August. Ticket are limited, as not all seats in the house will be on sale due to the production being filmed for broadcast!!

Northern Ballet’s Casanova returns for surprise summer performances in Manchester

Northern Ballet is bringing its 2017 blockbuster production Casanova back to the stage with two surprise performances at Manchester Palace Theatre. The two performances on 4 and 5 August will be filmed for later broadcast and, with no current plans to tour Casanova again in the near future, offer audiences one last opportunity to see this thrilling new ballet.

 

Transporting audiences to 18th century Venice, Casanova tells the story of the infamous Italian adventurer in a seductivemasquerade of passion and politics. The production premièred in March 2017 before embarking on an eight week national tour throughout the spring. Acclaimed by critics and audiences, over 40,000 people attended performances of Casanova on tour where the smash-hit production achieved an astounding £1.2m at the Box Office.

 

 

Casanova is choreographed by award-winning Kenneth Tindall with a stellar creative team. Tindall co-created the scenario with actor, dramatist and historical biographer Ian Kelly, author of the 2008 Sunday Times Biography of the Year, Casanova. The production is set to an original score by modern classical, film and television composer Kerry Muzzey played live by Northern Ballet Sinfonia. Sets and costumes are designed by Tony and Olivier award winning Christopher Oram, whose upcoming projects include a Broadway adaptation of Disney’s Frozen. Wigs and Make Up are designed by Richard Mawbey who has worked extensively on the West End and Broadway as well as on blockbuster films including Titanic, Star Wars and Harry Potter. Lighting is designed by Alastair West whose Northern Ballet credits include the South Bank Sky Arts Award nominated Jane Eyre.
