cavycapers Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 I am booking for myself and some friends for Swan Lake in the late summer, and as it will be for them a bucket list experience, we are going to pay for seats that I would never normally even consider! So what I would like some help with, please, is if money were no object, where would you sit for Swan Lake? Stalls? Stalls Circle? Donald Gordon, or higher? If one sits towards the front of the stalls, are there any seats from which feet (which I always think are rather important!) cannot be seen? I know the cheaper seats very well
now voyager Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 If money were no object, I would sit in the Grand Tier--it's high enough to appreciate the corps (which is to my mind the biggest star of the Mariinsky's Lake) yet close enough to really SEE the soloists. 4
Sim Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 I agree with NV.....if you are splurging, Grand Tier or else centre row A of the balcony. SL is much better viewed from above, not from the stalls, IMHO. 2
Jacqueline Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 (edited) I would also choose the Grand Tier but slightly to one side. I have found sitting dead centre gives a feeling of being miles from the stage,. I generally go for seat A40 or its left side equivalent. The Grand Tier is just right for Swan Lake, not too high or low. Edited April 9, 2017 by Jacqueline 1
