No we got:
"It is with regret that I must inform you that X has been unsuccessful...
I am sorry to have to communicate this disappointing news....
We regret no correspondence can be entered into regarding unsuccessful auditions.
With my best wishes to x for the next stage of his studies."
I really have no problem with a no. They see hundreds of children and it is a cut throat world but I don't think they can have one rule for some and one rule for others. If they don't think he should be there (and the receipt of that letter rather than the positive one leads me to believe that) then they should just say so rather than leading us on a merry dance whilst taking our money (and time and effort) for the privilege.

Useful to hear from someone with a dc who has attended LSC. Btw I have a ds. Were there many male dancers attending?
-
Thanks Lilac. I will get onto that. May see you there!

Really agree with you on your comments. Just to say Harrison Lee is now 17 ????
-
Could not agree more with Don Q Fan. I thought this the best show I have seen, quality wise, particularly the boys. The five who danced the Concerto grosso are very good, assuming the cast list is correct, Simone Acri, Joseph Aumeer, Aitor Galende Brizuela, Giacomo Rovero and Lorenzo Trosello nailed it. I also loved the Mistake Waltz by Jerome Robbins, great fun from the ladies. But the two DQF mentioned; Kaho danced beautifully, shame she isn't coming to the RB; and Harrison Lee, amazing for someone who is only 15. It appears that after winning the Prix de Lausanne he had the choice of many schools, world wide, to continue his training and has chosen the RBS. I see great things for him.
I absolutely love the Grand Defile, what a fantastic end it gives to the show, but I think I saw something a bit different this year. Following the whole school flying on to the stage in rows of boy/girl/boy/girl etc. during the cheering and applause the stage lights went out for just a moment and when they came back on the order had changed so all the girls were on one side and all the boys on the other. Is this normal or am I having a senior moment?
Anyway, wonderful performance from some very, very talented young people.

Naturally Sassy book is popular in our house. Written by a British young dancer. Full of great recipes. Is meat, dairy, wheat free and very inventive and easy to follow. My DC love her smoothie bowls you eat with a spoon

I believe they are all Cuban

Wow Jacqueline. You have put into words my same thoughts about the evening much more eloquently than I could! I liked Carlos' partner Laura Rodriguez in particular on the night. It was all very entertaining. Ditch the Dying Swan I agree. Majisimo came off very well at the end and a bit of a standing ovation.

This is a very respected summer school in Brittany at the end of August. Just a thought. DS has had several friends attend over the years.

Thanks Lucinda and Kate_N. It is the hostel in Zeeburg yes. It sounds like they look after them pretty well. The schedule looks quite full-on for the two weeks. Did your DD go with friends or on her own, if you don't mind me asking? DS has friends applying but as they are all also applying elsewhere, he might end up being the only one attending.
-
Has anyone been to this before? 17 year old DS keen to apply. Accommodation appears to be in a hostel quite a way from where they will be dancing. I can ring the school but thought I'd ask on here first ????

Oops sorry folks - mods please remove the above post, as I have just realised there is a new syllabus just started this January so my dvd can go in the bin!
-
Advanced 2 male syllabus ballet dvd and also the separate music cd that goes with it: £12 including postage. Please reply here or PM me.

Been there done that, Cherry! DS and I stayed Covent Garden Travelodge which is walking distance. They fill up so you would definitely need to book soon.
-
Thanks Harwel. Very interesting idea. How are they publicising it do you know?

My DS's former teacher has mislaid his ISTD tap certificate and comments in her office move. She told me his mark but I have no paperwork. It's a bit awkward now as I have chased her a few times and DS does not go to her school now. Could I contact ISTD as a parent and get a duplicate does anyone experienced out there know?

Baylins Ballet in Beaconsfield excellent too
-
Oh sorry tutugirl. Just seen this and afraid they are gone ????
-
Sorry should have said. They are 34 inch chest and DS wore them when 12-14. Waistcoats shinyish black. Are very light so will only cost a couple of pounds maybe to post.
