I have just tried to watch the gala again on my TV  using the app but it will not load on the app nevermind the TV. Useless. We have fibre broadband as well!  I had to watch on my pc last time I'm not doing it again. So so poor from Marquee.

And finally choreographer Rachel Beaujean came on stage to take a bow, along with many of the other people who helped stage the show but here you can see Semyon Velichko, Rachel Beaujean and Maia Makhateli, upon whom Rachel created the Raymonda role.

I saw the premiere of the show on 3rd April. It was very nice with beautiful sets costumes and dancing . I was not so keen on the musical arrangement as it seemed very samey compared to ENBs more lively arrangement. I enjoyed the performance very much indeed but I did feel that Rojo's version for ENB has the slight edge being more entertaining in all aspects. I love DNB and you always get a good show from them and it's great to have another full length classical ballet in the rep. I would recommend anyone to see a show at DNB and the theatre is probably my must favourite ever bring very comfortable with good sight lines and it is very well serviced in terms of facilities. 

I too am tryibg to watch tonight using a chrome cast device . It doesn't cast.  So then I tried the cast my screen off my phone  and I only got sound no picture. This is very poor indeed. Disappointed. 

Have tried to search for this but couldn't turn anything up , what has happened to the seat photos - the pics of the seat itself and the view from it?  I really liked that feature!

I had a lovely afternoon and evening in the company of BRB and Don Quixote!  This new Acosta version is lovely.  I still think the ROH has the edge but for the smaller scale this is perfect.  the set and costumes are beautiful especially the gorgeous understated Dream Scene that was a stoke of genius how the silver leaves reflect whatever colour lighting is projected on them so we had hues of pink or green or gold etc...I wanted the Dream Scene to go on forever!

Some very clever special effects with the windmill as others a=have said.  I really liked Max Maslen as Basil (he has a look of  a young Christopher Plummer about him) and Yaoqin Shang was a lovely Kitri.  Rory Mackay was brilliant as the foppish Gamache and Payne and Day as the Don and Sancho were great.  At the matinee I felt that the music was lacking oomph which let the dancing down but then after seeing the evening show I think it may be to do with where I was sitting - Circle F the music was far more muted than my evening seat Circle row A where the music felt much it had much more volume and oomph.  At the matinee the lady next to me said thought the same as she had experienced this phenomenon before at The Lowry.  Not much wood in that auditorium so perhaps not the best for orchestras? 

The evening show was even better, with Momoko Hirata as Kitri she was really great I liked her a lot and Matthias Dingman was a good Basil.  Now I would like to see Maslen with Hirata!  Maslen reminded me a bit of Vasiliev's performances although not *quite* as showy!  Pleased say the Dryad Queens all got the Italian Fouettes done fine too, unlike the first run at ROH where few managed them!  It looks like the cast sheets I downloaded were wrong as Espada was Lachlan Monagan in both shows, and I really enjoyed his performances.  

Anyway I had a good time and it was nice to say hi to JMcN as well.  Some curtain call photos:-

Matinee

Very sad this gala was cancelled/postponed but totally understandable and correct in the current circumstances. I really hope the Ukrainian situation can be resolved without further loss and bloodshed. It beggars belief that this is happening in 2022. So so sad. 

Oh I am looking forward to seeing the Trocks they are so good for the soul!  Sad they are not coming to Liverpool or Manchester but Belfast, Buxton and London will do!

The first ballet performance I saw was on a day trip to St Petersburg from Manchester Airport! It was 2002 and after sightseeing the city, the Hermitage and dinner at 5 star hotel, we were taken to the Mariinsky no less. There I saw a fabulous Fokine triple bill which couldn't have been a more perfect introduction to ballet! The show opened with Chopiniana followed by Walpurgischs Nacht (I think) and the rousing Polvotsian Dances! Not only that in the interval our guide led us up and up inside the building to a function room where we had Russian champagne and my first taste of caviar on canapés! It was a thrilling night, then we were taken back to the airport and flew home, very tired! It was thanks to the 3 hour time difference we were able to cram in everything. Left UK at 6am, got to Russia 12 noon, left at midnight arrived back home at midnight! Would love to do it again although I did go back for a week in 2004 and saw Giselle.

Well Emma did not have hers with her on departure I asked both if they knew about the promotion but neither did it was a total surprise both were thrilled. I too see this as a hopeful sign Emma will stay and Francesco yayy!! 

Fab pics Dawnstar! I got some too but haven't looked at them yet but I was in Upper circle. What did you think of the show? I loved it!!! It certainly was full on dance all the way and, as others have noted, the men get lots to do! I thought Frola's jumps were fabulous, they were so high! Could more have been made of the Abdur role though? Hmm. Fernanda was a lovely Raymonda.  Anyway I am looking forward to tonight's show to see how it all compares. If nothing else the wonderful music alone was worth the less than half price ticket price!!

No. I always sit in the UC and there is no rail at all.  Great view be warned no leg/knee room it's tight if you are tall.

Exactly we can't lose on that deal really! 

Although I think I may risk 2 shows as the Coli want covid passes and masks, and I will wear an FFP2 mask plus cloth one over that plus my booster etc!

The ticket offer is still valid for Raymonda so I have booked a 2nd show as I will be in London anyway - at less than half price it is worth a "gamble".

Oh thank you for this information as I had already cancelled my trip to Holland for the premiere as there were just too many restrictions to get into Holland, I was tipped off that this may happen.  Very happy to say I got full refunds for everything though as fortuitously for me flights were changed which allowed me to claim a refund!  April will be nicer in Holland anyway and if I can make it I will.  Now my only "problem" is that ENB have put Frola on on the 20th when I have a ticket for 21st 😞  Might just have to go to both 🙂

How long copyright lasts

I read one poor soul was en route from Manchester when ENB announced the show was cancelled needless to say there were not very pleased but fair play to ENB they asked said  person to contact them "to discuss" so maybe they sorted something out with them.

I really hope to see Raymonda near the end of its run.  Time will tell.

In the UK copyright is usually the life of the creator/author plus 70 years I believe. 

Would be good to know what is happening with Raymonda as I have a ticket for 21st Jan, through From the Box Office.  I m just waiting to see if any more restrictions are brought in this week before I decide on what to do for events I have planned in London in January.
