  1. Not that this will make anyone feel better but in the states, the leap from lower to upper schools is also not an automatic one- particularly in the top schools. Students are typically re evaluated for upper school or pre pro divisions so really the UK seems to be operating in the same way now. The difference is I guess that there are more vocational options in the U.S. if you want to continue to pursue that route.
  2. Oh wow, that is so interesting! Thanks again for all the info! Great perspective!
  3. DD is hoping for Year 9 and we are from the states originally so the British ballet training system is quite new for us! Thank you for all the insight!
  4. This is my DD first time doing an in person audition at RBS, age 13. Would anyone have insight into what to expect. My daughter is a vocational student and not new to RBS style having been to the summer intensive, but more curious about how many typically in a room and anything that we should take note of ahead of the day. Also, any ideas on how many move onto the final round? Do they choose students for associates from that pool only? Good luck to everyone this audition season!!
  5. Heard today, it's a yes for us. Good luck to all!
  6. Hi- Curious if there is an updated review of the Dance CATs in general in 2022? Any specific centers that are highly rated closer to London? Thank you!
  7. Hi- DD will be headed to RBS SI in August and had a question about travelling to and from for drop off and pick up. The handbook suggests taking train to Richmond and then taking a cab. Also, it mentions getting a parks pass for the cab? Just curious based on those with experience- is that the best way to go about it? Also, having never been, will it be easy to get a cab coming back to the train station once drop off is completed? And final one, are parents just dropping off at the door and leaving or are we able to help settle in? Thank you for any insight you may have!
  8. Thank you for all the advice! Lots to consider and now that we are here, all very exciting!
  9. Thank you @sunrise81 and @danceparentfor your responses! We have lots to learn this summer. My DD will be at RBS in August so we excited to dive in and learn more about ballet school life in the UK!
  10. Hi- Expat ballet mom moving from U.S. to England this summer. My daughter is a vocational ballet student and has participated in a number of summer intensives ABT and SAB in the states but they usually happen a bit earlier beginning end of June-end of July. I wonder which summer intensives do British ballet students tend to apply for (other than RBS) that happen later in the summer? Are there other popular ones in Europe that suit the UK school schedule? (Thinking ahead for next summer!) Related question is- do British ballet students tend to do homeschool? Thank you for any advice you may have!
