Was just looking at ROH website yesterday and it is completely different to the last time I looked at it!!

so okay you got to Menu the same and then What's on etc but then all these "events"come up for the general public ( not theatre performance goers) to attend

I eventually found " All Dance events" and then it took you through in sort of date order and grossly enlarged everything including performances that was dance related but I only wanted to look at the summer June triple and had to keep scrolling down till it got to June.

Is there a quicker way of accessing  just one ballet programme you might be interested in rather than have to look at every event on from February to June?

It is far inferior ....though more glossy to look at .....to how it was organised before when it was very easy to scan down to the performance you wanted if it was a few months ahead.

I have seen the same setting about a week ago and posted My horrid experience under The "new" Royal Opera House, Covent Garden thread, Page 31.

My writing may not be clear, but I felt exactly the same.

If ROH thinks their web site needs to be updated, please be user friendly & less clickings.

I do hope this make over site would be ended just an experiment.

  2. I have an awful difficulty with the updated ROH site.

After clicking what's on, Tickets and Events pops up which is too loud to my taste.

    Then I get lost.

Not easy to find the performances I am after.

My smart phone still shows previous version which lists up the event chronologically and which works better for me.

I can see what is coming at one grance instead of multiple clickings.

Internet Explorer displays the new version.

Chrome and safari display the previous or current version which is familiar to us all.

    *added browser details.

I'm also having a problem with the website - you put tickets in your basket and then the basket vanishes and there doesn't seem to be any way to get it back.

Sorry to hear the technical issue.

When I sootted this offer, I already purchased my tickets through Coli Box Office.

Therefore I wasn’t aware of the issue.

Hope it has been sorted and got your wished tickets.

Looking at Sophie's biography, it would seem she has performed principal roles elsewhere.  It must be difficult for someone to join a new company, and find themselves back in the corps again?

Thiago Soares mentioned it in his interview to Dancing Times long time ago that he was dancing mail roles with the previous company, but his frist roles with RB was one of coffin beares in Mayerling.

It was a shock to him.

Since then he got promoted to Principal and casted Prince Rudolf for some seasons.

Yes indeed - that's the https://www.roh.org.uk/events/2jz77 link that Yumiko shows twice. But how could a casual visitor guess that there's more casting information available? And it's plain that there are problems with the system, if it can't even display the same information on the same page when logged in and logged out.

    That is also my point.

Various ways to reach the detailed information is ok, but the same result should appear.

  6. I checked 16 Feb casting by three different routes.

    Route1
    Home - What’s on - Productions - The Royal Ballet School/Two pigeons dates - 16 Feb date

    The casting link is
    https://www.roh.org.uk/productions/the-royal-ballet-school-by-liam-scarlett

It shows 3 names to each main roles. F Hayward/W Bracewell/F Kaneko/V Zuccheti team is not listed.

    Route2
Home - What’s on - calendar pick up 16 Feb - pick up The Royal Ballet School/Two pigeons

    F Hayward/W Bracewell/F Kaneko/V Zuccheti team appears.

    The link is
    https://www.roh.org.uk/events/2jz77

    Route3
Home - What’s on - pick up Winter period from either under calendar - scroll dow and open ‘view winter 2018/19 calendar of events’ pick up The Royal Ballet School/Two pigeons on 16 Feb

    F Hayward/W Bracewell/F Kaneko/V Zuccheti team appears.

    The link is
    https://www.roh.org.uk/events/2jz77

You can see there are two links which shows completely different names.

Majority of people go to Route1 way unless you want to know what is offered on the specific date.

I would say not many people go to Route3 unless you know it does exist ;)

Thank you for BBB for sharing what we could do with this page.

I have checked just one casting and what I have just written is as of now.

The links may talk the same language at some point.

Now I would like to know which one is correct.
Also I would like ROH website team to polish dancer’s profile page.
Please add the role and performing date when dancers are casted main role.

Currently the programme link is embedded.
It is an extra work, but it is clearer to us.

  7. Stuttgart Ballet recently opened the season with triple bills witch includes Symphony in C.

The casting of all programmes was announced about 10 days prior to the first night.

December/January and July castings are to be confirmed as of today.

Royal Ballet is probably one of few companies announces the castings months in advance.

Other case I know is oversea companies visiting Japan, especially Tokyo.

The promotors do know if they don't announce the castings before the booking open date, the ticket sales would be slow.

Deciding Symphony in C and Infra castings might be more complicated than we think.

But I would like to know it before the tickets are sold out.

The idea of that page is to give a summary of who is appearing in the main roles for each performance...like names on a poster for a film that has an ensemble cast. The order is the traditional order that the characters appear in the cast sheet.....so for Mayerling it's always Rudolf, Mary, Marie for example. Clicking on the underlined date leads to a page which details the dancer's full name and the character they play as well as running time and act length

    In general, yes.

But current La Bayadere is a different story.

Some casts start with Nikiya snd some starts with Solor.

On top of it, listing the concert master in the same line with main dancers is also confusing to me.

Maybe they are ok to see how things pan out rather than accept a contract elsewhere but I for one would have loved to see their talent and hard work rewarded with more of a commitment ( and presumably $$).  It was great, for example, to see Shale Wagman gaining a contract at ENB after his Prix de Lausanne win.

I am confused about Shale Wagman’s status.

ENB announced Shale joinjng as Artist.

Prix de Lausanne site states apprenticeship offered.

A couple of more Prix de Lausanne winners are joining ENB.

    Both apprenticeship offered is remarked.

The first relays that I saw were on a screen which was jammed into a corner of the Covent Garden marketplace just outside the Opera House back door so it was easy for performers to come out and take a bow. I also remember one occasion when they appeared in Trafalgar Square but can't remember what or when it was.

Before cinema screening was introduced, live relay at Trafalgar Square started 15 minutes late.

Main role dancers were ushered to the minibus and escorted to Trafalgar Square and bowed to the audience.

I can't remember the year, but Onegin by Alina Cojocaru and Johan Kobborg at one occasion.

Romeo and Juliet by Sarah Lamb and Slava Samdurov, I think in 2008.

Onegin public screening inspired Reid Anderson.

Stuttgart Ballet's annual public screening at the park started because of this.
