  1. My daughter was lucky enough to do both programmes. She enjoyed both equally, and found the lessons a very similar standard with 2 wonderful teachers. RBS offered more opportunities such as London workshops/pre gen performances etc. The only additional thing Elmhurst offered was a Easter residential (which was very reasonably priced) but unfortunately was cancelled due to covid the year my daughter was due to go.
I know the Birmingham elmhurst associates get a few extra opportunities such at BRB nutcracker.
good luck to your dd an exciting journey ahead. X

Hi, did you get a confirmation email in the end? I haven’t either.

I applied again as I’m sure my struggles with the photos prevented me from completing it properly. I did then get a confirmation email, which went into my spam folder.

  3. Hi, I applied for the summer school last week but not had any confirmation email. Usually for workshops I get a confirmation email within minutes. I’m wondering if I’ve filled it in wrong as I had a difficult time uploading the photos.
    Has anyone else had confirmation?

  5. I can definitely recommend s-mb company. My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed it this year, despite being mostly on zoom.
The classes are varied and really informative, also they aren’t as basic as a lot of the other associates. My dd is a JA and finds S-MB a good contrast, learning the trickier things and being able to give everything a go.

You will be amazed at how much tidier they are at school! There are daily room checks, with a tick list of what they need to do (open curtains, make bed, leave floor clear etc) and they get rewards for having a full chart of ticks.

Having places to put things helps DD to stay organised: a box for school books, containers for hair stuff etc. Also, a huge wash bag that is big enough to take all her shampoo, conditioner, shower gel etc so she isn’t juggling bottles on the way to the shower xx

Oh thank you for advise, we have had a chat to dd about starting to be I little more independent on the run up to September. She does like to keep a tidy room so shouldn’t be too bad at that, but is a nightmare for losing things 🙈

My DD is due to take hers this term as well and I was worried about her not being with her peers.  I think I may let her take her exam at least I know there is someone in a similar situation x

Yes sounds like there’s quite a backlog so probably best to let them do their exam when they can. 😂

Current y9s have yet to do any RAD exams (since they started in y7) so don't hold your breath 🤣

Oh hopefully they get to do one soon. Maybe allowing my dd to take her inter foundation exam before she leaves is a good idea then 😂

All Year 7s start on Intermediate Foundation unless they have already taken it, in which case they go into Intermediate with the Year 8s, but not until after Christmas, and possibly later than usual as there is a backlog of the older students waiting to take RAD exams since before lockdown. They work their way through the vocational grades, but not the numbered grades. The RAD grade doesn’t affect what they do in their other ballet classes at all, so don’t worry about being ahead or behind. The exams are just a route into competitions and teaching qualifications as they get older.

Thank you! My DD is working towards her inter foundation and will probably be able to fit in her exam before heading off to elmhurst. I was just worrying that she’d be made to sit out until all the other dc in her class are on the same level. Nice to know she can join an older class if needed.

  10. Hi, does anyone has any information on the RAD classes at elmhurst? What I’m wondering is, do all y7’s start off on the same level? Or does it depend on what exam they’ve recently taken? Also is it just the vocational exams they do, or grades too?
@sunrise81 could you maybe help with this? You’ve been so helpful during this whole process.

Hi Ballerina girl. I think they do take into account finals though as well as our JA teacher said sometimes they find a physical issue (i guess from physio assessment) which might rule you out from MA....? X

If they are JA’s then any physical issue will of most likely been flagged up at prior physio assessments at JA classes. I know several children who’ve not applied for white lodge but have been given MA places in previous years and we were always told it’s based directly from prelim auditions. No doubt if a major issue does get flagged up at finals then it will affect their MA result but most decisions will be based on prelims (or videos in this years case) xx

  12. I was told by my DDs JA teacher the MA results are based purely on the prelim video and a JA teacher report (if they are a current JA)

I’d think results will be out before online auditions, even if there are uk students still waiting to be seen.
Hopefully not much longer to wait 🙏🏻🤞🏻

Oh that’s interesting, they never used to have an ‘ordered’ list, they’ve always said it was a reserve ‘pool’ because they looked at the overall picture of who had accepted or gone elsewhere, and where there might be spaces in boarding etc. It wasn’t as simple as who was next on the list.

Yes I was surprised it worked this way also, maybe there are separate wait lists for girls and boys, that way if a boy declines they can look at the boy reserve list.
They also said the list remains open during the academic year so there is always the chance they will get called upon, that way.

  14. My dd has been placed on the reserve list, do any of the parents from previous years have any more information about this? How many are on list, and how long is the list valid for?

well done to all the yeses 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
