Congratulations Everyone! It took me most of the afternoon to process and letting it sink in. My DS has been offered a year 7 place. I am also very pleased about the new programme structure.

I have been posting very publicly on here, lol, please let me know if anyone would like to start a whatsapp group for year 7 entry?

Congratulations to everyone again for enduring this rollercoaster ride...though I know it is only the beginning..

    Well done! That’s amazing!

Has it been mentioned in this thread? Will have to read back.
When DS gets fed up of my questioning he starts answering with ‘funny’ answers to make me stop. 😅 I thought he was just messing about but I asked him again after you posted and he said yep, right in front of him with the camera lens open. Was your DD the last number of her group by any chance? DS said it was the only camera he could see and it made him jump as he only realised it was there mid exercise and then the nerves kicked in at the thought of it filming him. He said it was pointed at his face. I reassured him it was probably wide angle and filming the whole room, not just him. 😂

yes it must have been, I had forgotten but when my DD mentioned it tonight I remembered it had been mentioned by someone I think at the boys audition stage!

yes she was the last number of her group! She didn’t give to much info away she just mentioned it when I asked about the recall thing will see if she remembers anymore about it tomorrow

I’m glad you’ve said that as I wasn’t sure if DS was making that bit up about a camera. He said there was a GoPro looking thing on the barre a little bit in front of him and was quite distracting as he didn’t know if it was filming or not. 🤣

Yes I didn’t ask her about it either. She randomly said it like she had just remembered when I asked her tonight about the recall thing. I had actually forgot the camera thing had even been mentioned ages ago in this thread

Hi , this happens every year and indeed causes anxiety and much second guessing among parents.
The truth of the matter is it leaves neither students or parents with any more of a clue as to the forthcoming result.
My own child did not have a recall but was a yes, many others in her year were in the recall and were a yes also.
Thus ,there were students  with nos and yeses in both cohorts. It is only natural to spend this very challenging waiting week over analysing, after all that’s what we  parents do well!

Just asked my daughter about this and she said they said this in her group, don’t put your tracksuit back on as they may recall you. She said the lady said if they do it doesn’t mean you’ve gotten further and if you don’t it doesn’t mean you haven’t just that they need to see more. No one got recalled back through in her group. She has also just told me there was a camera in the audition. As someone else said she’s drip feeding me information 🤣

Aww. That sounds so lovely! I might have to pinch that idea. It is such an incredible achievement to make it to finals.

I just said to DS ‘It would have been nice if you got to keep your audition number’ and he said ‘I DID!!! I just forgot to tell you.’ He has both. They were still in his bag after all this time. 🤭😅

Yay that’s brilliant! They are good quality paper too so they didn’t get ripped 😀 definitely pinch the idea it looks great and is such a nice reminder of a very special day and achievement. I got a great frame from home bargains not expensive 😀

I don't have that type of self-control. lol. I see the first couple of lines of an email when it comes without opening it. In case any signs of disappointment shows (not disappointment in my ds at all),  I would prefer to tell ds later  when I can reiterate how proud I am  of him regardless and so maybe I would prefer to be alone, the last thing I want is for ds to think I am disappointed in him (I honestly could not be more proud of his resilience this past year).

aww yes it would be easy for disappointment for them (not in them) to be noticeable. My daughter just says she will be able to tell if I’ve read it or not. I imagine she means if in the small chance it’s good news she will be able to tell by my face. Either way though I keep saying to her the achievement is making it there. I’ve had her audition number framed with some pictures from the day and it’s displayed with her dance area. So hope she knows how proud I am of her whatever the outcome 😀

  8. Hoping it’s today for you I keep checking on here for updates! Just a question if you receive in the day will you wait to read with them or will you read first before school pick up? My daughter wants me to read it with her so when it comes to next week and our results are more likely I might have to stop checking my emails in the day 🤣 will be difficult!

Is anybody else checking emails a lot today?! I can’t believe we are still waiting, I think this is the longest in recent years that the boys have had to wait to hear! I know in the grand scheme of things it’s not a super long time but the thought of not knowing to the end of the week is killing me, haha x

I’m nervous and thinking of all you boy mums today, this is what il be like by  next week when our results are more likely to be, constantly checking!

Completely newbie here! My daughter has final audition at White Lodge for year 9 on Friday...after obsessively reading all this thread (every 10 minutes updating it!! ), just wondered how many other year 9 are going on Friday or likely to be there? Also will the audition and physio check follow the year 7 entry (ie no impro requested etc)? Any hints appreciated. She is not a JA and this is her first audition

thank you for this feed - love reading all the experiences

Welcome, I’m pretty much a newbie to all this too other than joining this thread a few weeks ago, it’s been so helpful, my DD was a year 7 WL finalist but had not been a JA, no advice to give unfortunately but wishing you all the best for the audition

My DD was asked to remove her shoes and socks ! She was the only one in her group that was asked. They did an exercise then she was asked to repeat the exercise without her shoes and socks on. Did this happen to everyone else ?

no my DD wasn’t asked that, but I would take this as a positive also

I was also thinking about paying for a private consultation with the ballet physio when all restrictions are lifted (especially as DS is adamant he did not have one as a JA). Ds had a consultation on zoom but I am curious to find out more (and minimize any risk of injury).

DS attended the YDA final in London today and though the letter said there would be some physio checks, he just said there were some stretches and no contact (he was awarded a funded place).

    That’s brilliant well done!

The last group of each day had physio at the beginning before they would have even looked at them dance...so I very much doubt they would have done different assessments on the children? I probably wouldn't read into it too much as it is hard for them to remember all the details, x

ah ok, that puts that theory out then, thanks for that info, it’s a rollercoaster isn’t it! Will need to keep busy this week!

Painful waiting isn’t it! (we only went yesterday! 🤣). I got a bit more info from dd this morning, as well as bending fingers back in the physios appt, she also had to reach forward to the floor (sort of roll down I think). But she also said they did frogs lying on their back in the audition, and also splits, so I guess some of the physical assessment happened then. She’s sure it’s going to be a no, which I guess is the better way around if it is, less disappointing.

This is the same as what my DD reported as being checked too, she remembered more this morning

My ds said the same too. I really think it’s a no with the physio not using the thing on this leg to check turnout etc. I’d like to move on now xx

I’m starting to feel like it might be a no for DD as they didn’t use this thing to check leg turnout on her either. It seems 50/50 whether they used it or not from comments my only question is would they have made a yes/no decision that fast before physio in time to report to them who they wanted to check this on?

Yes my dd mentioned being asked things like if she could bend her fingers back, which I presume links to hyper mobility? (which I don’t think she has?!). Good point about limited contact re: Covid. I’m going to forget about it now anyway, I trust they know what they’re doing!!

yes I think limiting contact might have a lot to answer for! Especially as it’s quite close contact. I know they didn’t want to put their front numbers on only their back ones but my daughter had put hers on wonky and required some help 🙈
