  1. Hi, I can only comment on bulletpointe leotards, my DD loves the pinch front camisole Leo’s, I think they are a really flattering shape, low ish back, high cut, but not too much, and my daughter says they really comfortable, she is 14 and fits an XS She favours these to the Degas now.

They are fine to wash in the machine, I haven’t seen much shrinkage at all, but as others have said usually a cold wash/30 degree only. Just to mention - they are not lined at the front, so not a hugely supportive leotard. I think Just Ballet stock them in a few colours, but If you wanted a different style/colour I have ordered direct from bulletpointe and have to say they arrive quickly and the cost and shipping is not too much different (always only ordered one though in case of handling charges)

Another vote for Wear Moi - very reasonable, wash fine, and last a long time. Yumiko and Lucky Leo - think The Dancers Room stock Lucky Leo, all lovely brands, and lovely gifts as a little more expensive, but as others have said come up slightly smaller, so size up I’d say.

Now for the awkward part, we were informed that there would be alternative final audition arrangements made for those who were unable to attend in person and that this would take place after April 4.  But since then there has been no further contact and now clearly places have already been offered. Very confusing indeed.

Is anyone else in this situation?

I wonder as they will have faculty in the school over Easter running the online Spring intensive they may offer a zoom audition then? I think that’s running from the 7th April? But I’m sure speaking to them will clarify some options, best of luck 🤞

  4. I got one too, I think they are reminder emails to accept “the place “ been offered to you, even waitlist place, but it does confuse you in the wording especially if you have accepted already, makes you feel like double checking they received the original acceptance form.

At least there may be some movement on waiting list places after Friday then, good luck to everyone🙏🏻

  5. @Spamcatmy DD did EYB Cinderella in Hollywood in 2018, she was 11 at audition and casting and was a Star, I think a lot of them around this age were too. The younger ones were Shirley Temples I think from memory.

It’s a wonderful ballet, all the parts given are lovely and all groups were in Act 1 and Act 2. EYB just have a lovely way making sure all dancers are seen, and rotated on stage so they all get a moment at the front.

Rehearsals are full on, and long days, but my DD loved it, met so many friends and learnt a lot, the staff, teachers and principals are lovely, she will have a great time.

Hello. Does this work well for ballet? The video shows a tap dancer and it says it is.a gloss finish, it looks a bit slippery!

Hi, it’s ok for barre work, my daughter sprays a bit of hairspray to the soles of her shoes if jumping or completing adagio and says this has been fine and has used it with pointe, but really only for barre work as we only bought 1m x 1m. We bought this to just enable my DD to carry out some small practice barre work on carpet in her bedroom, It’s by no means the best option but for a cheaper alternative it’s been fine, we have now purchased the Harlequin practice mat which she places over this and this makes it less slippy.

Has anyone found anything to use over carpet?

My daughter uses the 1m x 1 m portable floor From here In her bedroom Approx £50 https://softfloorkids.co.uk/category/dance-tiles/
it comes in separate click together tiles, So you can buy the length/width you need It has rubber/plastic backing And edges , and has wood affect surface, so doesn’t ruin carpet beneath but provides a sturdy base to dance on, this was fine for barre work and practice for ballet, and great for tap too, It does slide on wood flooring, but we bought the harlequin practice mat and she now uses this on top of the soft floor in her bedroom to give a smoother surface to turn on, but I’m sure a piece of Lino would do taped down with some floor tape 😊

  8. I’ve just recently purchased the portable harlequin practice mat, it’s slim, but a durable vinyl mat. We have laminate flooring in lounge and when placed on this it does not slip at all. Extra fast delivery too, think it came next day.

Yes, you cannot put this on carpet, best on to wood, tiled, or a hard floor Surface.

My daughters feet were slipping out of position on our flooring (even applying hairspray to the soles of her shoes didn’t help) but she has had pointe classes and Other 1-1 zoom classes and says the mat is perfect, no slipping at all.

It comes rolled up, so the side that has the logo on does curl slightly around the edges but you can buy tape From them too which does not leave residue if you Wish to stick this down more permanently to a hard surface. We just use it the other way and it lays perfectly flat. It’s not cushioned, so I couldn’t imagine it would be ideal for long periods of jumping if on hard floors, but for short lessons or practice it seems ideal at the moment. It’s not the cheapest, but as it’s portable I’m hoping my DD can pop it in the carry bag and take it with her to her nans, or wherever she’s wishes to practice, so hopefully worth the ££ xxx
